Almost 35 lakhs Tax Audit last year. I’m sure it would be much higher this year.
I strongly feel that 30th September is an over ambitious date for compliance and must be extended to 31st October. I have following points to make:
1. Statistical Disparity: Daily Filing Run-Rate vs. System Capacity
Cumulative Deficit vs. Historical
Benchmarks: Historically, approximately 34–36 lakh Tax Audit Reports (Forms 3CA/3CB–3CD) are filed annually. Real-time filing data in mid-to-late September typically reveals that fewer than 15–20% of expected audits are uploaded, leaving an unfiled volume of 28–30+ lakh reports.
Last year, it was 4.02 lakhs were filed till 24th September, 2025. (Refer Press Release Screenshot)
Mathematically Unfeasible Required Run-Rate: Compressing this volume into the final 7–10 days necessitates an average filing velocity of 3,00,000 to 4,00,000 TARs per day. Even on peak operational days, the e-filing portal's peak daily upload bandwidth for complex XML/JSON schemas rarely sustains such throughput without session timeouts, slow OTP authentications, and DSC verification bottlenecks.
2. Audit Quality vs. Mechanical Compliance (The Qualitative Imperative)
Substantive Audit vs. Data-Entry Exercise:
Section 44AB read with Standard on Auditing (SA) 200/230 requires independent verification, vouching, and corroboration of financial transactions. A compressed timeline forces auditors into mechanical tick-and-bash compliance rather than exercising professional skepticism, defeating the very purpose of statutory tax audits as envisioned under the Act.
Deep Cross-Reconciliation Mandates: Form 3CD now demands cross-platform data integrity across non-integrated reporting systems:
Turnover & ITC Integrity: Multi-way reconciliation of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and auto-populated GSTR-2B against books of account (Clause 44 / Clause 21).
Statutory Withholding Verification: Line-by-line validation of TDS/TCS under Chapter XVII-B against TRACES reports and Form 26AS/AIS (Clauses 34(a), 34(b), and 34(c)).
MSME Disallowances under Section 43B(h): Detailed audit of payment timelines against supplier agreements/invoices to report disallowances under Clause 22, requiring exhaustive verification of supplier enterprise classifications (Micro/Small).
Compounding Departmental Burden:
Submitting hurried, inaccurate audit reports inevitably leads to defective return notices under Section 139(9), automated CPC adjustments under Section 143(1)(a), and unmerited scrutiny selections under CASS. Upholding audit quality at the initial reporting stage protects the department from administrative clutter and protracted litigation.
3. Cascading Workflow Constraints on Practicing Firms
Statutory Overlap: The audit window directly overlaps with the finalization of corporate financial statements under the Companies Act, 2013, quarterly advance tax estimation (due September 15), and monthly GST compliance cycles (GSTR-1/3B due September 11–20).
Late Schema Release / Software Iterations: Frequent mid-season schema revisions or late rollout of filing utilities require accounting software vendors to patch systems, reducing the actual effective auditing window available to professionals.
Since no Press Release was there for last year, have used the AY 24-25 PR for reference.

In simple terms, those mixing exemption with rebate and marginalising the “marginal relief” must refer to this for “awakening”!
Ek line mein yaad rakhiye:
Exemption: Income kam taxable hoti hai.
Rebate: Tax kam hota hai.
Marginal relief: Threshold cross karne par tax ka disproportionate increase roka jata hai.
From Patna’s Ishaat Hussain, who served as Finance Director of Tata Sons, to Rajasthan’s CA entrepreneur Sanjay Agarwal and Indore’s Amit Nagpal, professional excellence has no regional monopoly.
Calling CAs from UP, Bihar, Rajasthan & MP unethical because of their background isn’t criticism, it’s prejudice.
Being from one of the very regions he has demeaned, I strongly object to his sweeping and insulting generalisation about CAs from UP, Bihar, Rajasthan & MP. Linking economic background, mother tongue or birthplace to a lack of morals and ethics is deeply prejudiced and unacceptable.
I call upon ICAI to take cognisance of these remarks and examine whether they warrant action under its Code of Ethics and applicable professional conduct provisions.
I leave my observations here and leave it to others to judge.

Not sure how to start. Having lived and witnessed the resilience, warmth, and indomitable spirit of its people during Durga Puja in Bengal, the news of stampede and loss of life is so painful and disturbing.
There has always been chaos, dhakka-mukki, incidents of stampede (Deshapriya Park), during the festivals but lives were not lost.
My heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the tragic stampede. Prayers for the departed souls and strength to their grieving families. 🙏
Jane kiski nazar lag gayi, is baar!
I only pray and wish that let compassion prevail over panic, unity over chaos, and hope over despair. Let’s keep the spirits high and chaos low. Bengal will rise again!

This sounds interesting.
#SupremeCourt holds that S.17A Prevention of Corruption Act cannot be applied to public servant accused of demanding bribe.
I think, it will take another Rama to end the “vanvas” of hatred against India!
Excited and thrilled to look forward to the rise of the Legend, yet again!

Why the fuck are Indians hated so much? What have they done to deserve this level of hatred?
Have Indians promoted terrorism? Have they colonized your countries? Enslaved your people? Stolen your homes? Taken away your families? Kidnapped your children? What exactly have millions of ordinary Indians done to deserve this much racism and hostility?
Is it because they're educated, intelligent, ambitious, hardworking, and competing for the same jobs as you? Since when did intelligence and ambition become crimes? Since when did working hard to build a better life become a reason to be hated?
If your problem is job displacement, then why aren't you directing the same anger toward artificial intelligence?
Why not question AI? Why not question ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Anthropic, OpenAI?
AI has the potential to displace far more jobs than Indian immigrants ever could. Yet somehow, the Indian engineer, the Indian student, the Indian doctor, and the Indian worker become your enemies.
Why? Because it's easier to target a human being with a different skin colour or accent than to confront the actual economic forces changing your world?
And understand one thing clearly.
If an Indian refuses to engage with your racism, if they ignore your insults, if they choose not to respond to your hatred, it doesn't mean they lack a spine.
It means your hatred isn't worth their time.
Indians don't owe you an apology for being educated, ambitious, hardworking, successful, or simply existing.
Being Indian is not a crime. Being successful is not a crime. And your insecurity is not a justification for racism.
Direct tax up 13.2%. STT up 52%.
Translation: F&O traders lost money so efficiently that the government earned on both sides of every trade.
The only guaranteed returns in Indian markets?

So Senior Journalist @waglenikhil apologizes to CJI for abusing him and deletes the abusive posts. Says he got emotional outburst after hearing @KapilSibal statement that he lost trust in the Supreme Court.
A Journalist named @waglenikhil is abusing CJI because he refused meeting with opposition party leaders citing sub judice matters.
Criticism of Supreme Court and CJI is perfectly fine, but abusing CJI like this is gross contempt of court.
Hope he is prosecuted for this post already seen by a million people now.
And here comes the apology and rightly so.
Righty said.
Abusing the CJI for declining to meet political leaders on sub judice matters is indefensible. Abuse that "lowers or tends to lower the authority of any court" is exactly what Sec 2(c)(i) of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 covers.
Criticising judgments for a larger interest of a matter of public importance is one thing but abusing judges, that too the CJI, when he is legally right on his part is a nothing but lowering the authority of the court.
In any contempt proceeding, whether there is a bonafide default or otherwise, unconditional apology is an integral part of the submission before the court.
UPI MDR: a festive breather, not an exemption 🪔
Better sense prevailed. Not sure why was it announced at the first place, before the festive seasons.
NPCI has postponed the 0.4% fee on merchant UPI payments above ₹2,000 which was effective from Oct 15 to after Diwali.
Zero MDR continues for now, but the levy is coming.

I first came to know about my Guru Om Swami through his first book, If Truth Be Told.
He studied in Australia, built a successful business spanning five continents, and then renounced it all in search of something far greater.
Someone once asked him why he spends most of his time in solitude when so many people wish to have his darshan and receive his blessings.
Swami Ji replied that he prefers to devote his time to writing because, through his books, he can help many more people progress on their spiritual journeys.
His latest book arrived today. Another opportunity to learn, reflect and look within 🙏

The irony will have the last laugh when those fighting for constitutional rights are found violating the very Constitution they claim to defend.
Constitutional rights cannot be a shield for others and a weapon for oneself. The rule of law demands consistency, not convenience.

The very law regarding CEC appointment is under challenge before Supreme Court.
Petitions seeking Gyanesh Kumar's removal are also there before it.
So doesn't this resolution violate Rule 119(c) ?
How such resolutions can be even admitted, let alone passed?
Your views are welcome.

Observations made in a judgment are not to be read as provisions of a statute, nor are they to be read divorced from the context of the facts in which they were made, says #SupremeCourt !

We read that Kerala Legislative Assembly passed a resolution calling for removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar !
We are least interested in political debates surrounding it.
But there is an interesting legal issue: Does it violate the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly?
