The 2032 Games will host rowing, para rowing, canoe sprint and para canoe events on Rockhampton’s Fitzroy River, with World Rowing and Paddle Worldwide endorsing an independent technical assessment of the Rockhampton Flatwater course.
Comprehensive and independent technical assessments by GIICA and world-renowned Netherlands based marine engineering experts WaterProof Marine Consultancy and Services BV have been conducted.
The assessment included extensive on-water investigations and modelling to understand how the course would perform under a range of conditions, weather patterns, water levels and flood risk at both Games time and throughout the period leading into the Games.
Rockhampton has a secret weapon - the Fitzroy won’t need widening, dredging or construction of a barrage, which was required for the Tokyo Games.
Our 2032 Delivery Plan unashamedly delivers a lasting legacy for all of Queensland - and for our next generation of local athletes.
From a new 63,000 seat stadium and National Aquatic Centre in Brisbane, to new and upgraded venues in Cairns, Townsville, the Whitsundays, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Logan and the Gold Coast.
But it’s also about delivering the generational infrastructure, better roads, new tourism products and grassroots sports facilities our growing State needs.
We’re getting the 2032 Games back on track, just like we promised.

This is unacceptable.
Labor Cairns MP Michael Healy has been caught out again making disgusting comments on social media, this time antisemitic posts.
It means crimes like aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, conspiring to murder, stalking and abusing someone with a disability can be covered by tougher penalties.
Steven Miles & Qld Labor still won’t say if they will (or won’t) support our expansion of Adult Crime, Adult Time laws or our new laws to combat antisemitism.
They’re not being transparent with Qlders about legislation to make our communities safer. What are they hiding?
Good morning to everyone except Steven Miles who still won’t be straight with Queenslanders and say if he will (or won’t) support our expansion of Adult Crime, Adult Time laws to keep our communities safe.
We’re calling on Labor MPs and Steven Miles to come clean with Queenslanders and reveal if they support Adult Crime, Adult Time.
Victim numbers are down 7.2% and we can’t allow Labor’s chaos to stop us progressing our plan to restore safety where you live.

Chúc Mừng Năm Mới! Happy Lunar New Year!
Vietnamese traditions, like this are now part of Queensland’s shared story, and this is something to be proud of because it enriches our state’s identity, connections, social cohesion, cultural understanding, and our sense of belonging.
We’ve just launched Round 2 of our program to help small & family businesses upgrade security and deter crime 🤝
Happy Lunar New Year, Queensland!
I can’t think of a better way to welcome the Year of the Horse than by celebrating the start of construction on the Chinese Culture and Heritage Centre in Cairns.
A brief catch-up with Cherbourg Mayor Bruce Simpson at this morning’s opening of Parliament for 2026, accompanied by a beautiful tribute to the late song woman Maroochy Barambah and Welcome to Country by Turrbal woman Refiti Tovi.
This is strong, decisive action to fight antisemitism and address terrorist-motivated offending to ensure Queenslanders can live, worship and gather safely.
We’ll be introducing tough new laws to Parliament this week.
