I went through all SAPS annual reports over the past decade to compare the number of civilian firearms stolen/lost and recovered each year.
According to this, the police recovered 377 more guns than were reported stolen during the period.

These armchair academics are all the same: ivory towers, from which they pretend to be oracles of truth and objectivity
After a recent very disappointing article about lawful firearm ownership in SA by an armchair academic commentator, I wish to make it abundantly clear that I believe more South Africans (if comfortable), should be lawfully armed and well-trained.
In most cases you are your own first and last line of defence.
Get lawfully armed, get trained, be ready. Lawfully armed citizens shouldn’t ever be ostracised by armchair wokes, lawfully armed citizens are assets to community safety.
I would rather take the risk (which is utterly limited) of facing malicious consequences, than witnessing my family paying the price for my cowardice and/or lack of pro-active security actions.
The @Our_DA is a good supporter of firearm rights and ownership. We just wish they would be a little more detailed on what they actually want in policy

We appreciate this teeny bit more attention than usual, but we really want the FCA and CFR abolished. We will even help writing new legislation!

Last night Bheki Cele had special police protection by @SAPoliceService for an ANC meeting in Browns farm in Philippi in the Cape Flats. His protection detail included 6 flying squad vehicles, 3 Public Order vehicles and 3 TRT mini-buses. Each vehicle had its own crew. So while more than 100 people get murdered every week in the Western Cape, at least 50% of those in the Cape Flats, Cele has special protection. So when the police say they don't have vehicles next time, know they are likely guarding Cele or his ANC cronies.
The man who spearheaded the intended abolition of self defence as a reason to own a firearm.
We can expect this again. The FCA must go! Down with 'purposes' of use as a condition of licencing!
Bheki Cele must be fired! He is an embarrassment to career cops and citizens.
