Another one where VAR has been used, the forward (red line) is past the last defender (blue line) Basically the attacking team can't be the closest to the goal when the ball is kicked forward.

It would be the last defender on the defending team (excluding the goalkeeper). As you see in the image the line is drawn from the last point of the last defender of the white team, the blue player is past the line (so past the defender) as the ball is kicked so he is offside.
