I started building my trading software in 2020 while working as a software engineer.
Two years ago I left my job to do this full-time. It's how I make my living now.
I build automated systems around explosive price moves. I'll share the work and the results here.
For those of you trading for a living: would you be happy with 70% a year and 15% max drawdown?
Sounds amazing on paper, but taxes, withdrawals, living expenses, and an edge that could stop working make compounding to $1M feel fucking hard.
What’s enough for you?
Quiet tape today. Midterm uncertainty probably isn't helping.
Still, my system executed the first paper trade for a new pullback strategy: short $PARA, ~30%.
Watching something I built actually do its job never gets old.
There was a time when making $500 meant working my ass off.
Now my systems make that while I do nothing.
Yet I expect $500 every single day. If it doesn’t come, I get sad 😔
Meanwhile, I can lose $3,000 in a day and barely care.
Trading does weird things to your brain 😂
I've been working on a batch of new systematic strategies.
Here are some of their backtest equity curves.
The results look promising, but backtests are one thing. Real-world performance is another.
Next step: paper trading.
Will they hold up? 👀
My exposure has dropped significantly over the past 2.5 weeks. Far fewer opportunities compared to August and September.
