Replying to @OwainClatworthy
Owain, you've managed to turn a criminal conviction for RAPE and SEXUAL ASSAULT into a bizarre conspiracy about Christianity, COVID and the establishment.
What an absolutely shameful response to the suffering of four women.
Let's establish what actually happened.
Russell Brand was found GUILTY by a jury of one count of rape and THREE counts of sexual assault.
Detectives interviewed over 100 witnesses, gathered more than 400 statements and examined over 1,400 documents.
That's an extensive criminal investigation, Owain. Not some imaginary political witch-hunt.
And your pathetic attempt to portray this as religious persecution falls apart under the most elementary examination of the timeline.
The allegations were publicly reported in SEPTEMBER 2023.
Brand was baptised in APRIL 2024.
So how exactly was his conversion to Christianity responsible for allegations that were already being publicly investigated before it happened?
And this nonsense about the authorities digging up decades-old allegations?
There is no general statute of limitations on serious sexual offences in England and Wales. Victims don't lose their right to seek justice because their alleged attacker subsequently finds religion or changes his political opinions.
Here's another detail you've conveniently overlooked.
The jury ACQUITTED Brand of three other charges.
They considered the evidence and delivered different verdicts on different allegations.
That's rather inconvenient for your ridiculous assertion that the entire proceeding was simply an exercise in political persecution.
And your cries of "TWO-TIER JUSTICE"?
Where's your evidence that Brand was prosecuted because of his opinions about COVID, rather than because women reported serious sexual offences and prosecutors brought a case supported by evidence?
You haven't provided any.
You've decided that someone who challenges the establishment must be innocent, regardless of what a jury concludes.
And what an astonishingly convenient moral framework that is.
Apparently, finding Jesus and criticising government policy should somehow provide immunity from accountability for serious criminal conduct.
It doesn't, Owain.
Brand was not convicted of questioning COVID policy.
He was not convicted of becoming a Christian.
He was convicted of RAPE and SEXUAL ASSAULT.
Four women came forward. A jury examined the evidence and found him guilty.
Yet your immediate reaction is to declare the convicted man a victim of persecution while barely acknowledging the actual victims.
Perhaps spare a thought for those women before turning their ordeal into another fucking political conspiracy theory.
Because accountability for sexual violence isn't religious persecution.
And a criminal conviction doesn't become "two-tier justice" simply because you happen to admire the defendant.
Piers Morgan is a right twat but this was masterful, letting Brand slowly dig himself a deeper hole, I love to see it π #RussellBrandtrial #RussellBrand #RussellBrandIsARapist #PiersMorgan youtu.be/4QCIqF7K3lE?is=HsCpβ¦
She likes that dress doesn't she? Got it in both colourways π #aplaceinthesun
Nope this one isn't as nice as their fave property either, the bedrooms are smaller and once again this one is a lot darker, plus this doesn't have a roof terrace, also the outside space overlooks the road and a carpark, would you really want that? There'd be zero privacy and it would be noisy. Nah. Not for me but they seem to like it weirdly #aplaceinthesun
Don't like the lotto win house, it's really boring inside and the whole staircase area just seems a mismatch of styles that clash and that horse in the garden is just fucking bizarre #aplaceinthesun
No don't like this one, it's really dark compared to the last one, the roof terrace is smaller and not as nice a view, it's also the most expensive so far #aplaceinthesun
That was the nicest so far yet the cheapest, sometimes you can get nice properties at a decent price #aplaceinthesun
This one is nice, nice and bright and spacious, good size bedrooms and light bedrooms, best so far for me I think and especially if it as that entire roof terrace to itself, I'd turn that into such a haven, I'd have a gazebo, some sun beds, lots of potted plants and possibly even a hot tub, although I'd use the hot tub as something to cool off in rather than have it hot if that makes sense? #aplaceinthesun
I need to watch this I.S.S film too actually, looks like an interesting situation, what would happen on the I.S.S if nuclear war broke out between Russia and America? Would they come together or want to destroy one another? #aplaceinthesun #ISS
Looking forward to I Am Helen and Hunting Alice Bell, love a good drama #aplaceinthesun
God these two need a humour injection, Jesus crack a smile once in your lives #aplaceinthesun
I like this one, the view is lovely, especially when it's turned into parkland and the terrace is a nice size. If you ask me this flat seems more modern than the previous one, but apparently they don't think so, the other one looked a bit dated to me #aplaceinthesun
Good to know that in front is going to be parkland although I would be concerned that it will be built on at some point, depends if it's going to be set in stone that it can't be built on #aplaceinthesun
She's done investigating and now feels confident that there are no monsters under the bed and has come to join me, not sure she's a chuckles fan though as she's gone straight to sleep #aplaceinthesun
