Tonight's deep thought: There places that are nice to visit and wouldn't want to live, but are there any places you'd want to live, and not want to visit?

She didn't monetize her sacrifice—she answered the call. The Senate hearing room went cold when the insult landed. Tammy Duckworth sat across from J.D. Vance, waiting for him to answer her question. She'd come prepared with policy, with specifics, with the kind of detailed inquiry that veterans' issues demand. But instead of engaging, Vance chose a different route. He compared her to Forrest Gump. Let that sink in for a moment. A sitting senator, facing a decorated combat veteran who'd left parts of herself on an Iraqi battlefield, thought a fictional character was the appropriate reference. Duckworth's response was surgical. She didn't raise her voice. She didn't need to. When you've piloted a Black Hawk helicopter through hostile fire, when you've felt the explosion that tears through metal and bone, when you've woken up in a hospital missing both legs and part of an arm, petty insults from small men barely register. November 12, 2004. That's the day her helicopter was hit by an RPG over Iraq. She was co-piloting, focused on her mission, when the world turned to fire and shrapnel. The rocket-propelled grenade destroyed her aircraft and nearly destroyed her. Most people would have let that be the end of their service story. Duckworth spent a year in recovery at Walter Reed. She learned to walk again on prosthetic legs. Then she went back to work. No book tour about resilience. No cable news circuit trading on sacrifice. She didn't monetize her Purple Heart or turn her injuries into a personal brand. She served in the Illinois National Guard, then ran for office to continue serving in a different capacity. Retired Lieutenant Colonel. Combat veteran. Purple Heart recipient. The first disabled woman elected to Congress, then to the Senate. The first senator to give birth while in office, bringing her newborn onto the Senate floor because the rules hadn't contemplated a working mother who'd also taken shrapnel for her country. When Vance tried his cheap shot, she treated it exactly like what it was: noise from someone who'd never answered a question he found uncomfortable. She'd faced real danger. She knew the difference between actual courage and performance art patriotism. That's who Tammy Duckworth is. Remember it.

Holy shit, the case for war crimes against Pete Hegseth is so strong, he's reportedly already looking for a new job, possibly as Senator, to try to escape accountability. F*ck that. IMPEACH that war criminal.

Imagine if you stood up at work and said “You know who has one hell of a beautiful ass? It’s Carol from accounting. Stand up Carol! Show them your ass!” You’d be fired within the hour but the president gets a pass because everyone has accepted the fact that he’s a scumbag.
Trump: I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before, Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss.

A Texas father who had lived in the U.S. for 25 years with no criminal record was finishing his night shift as an Uber driver when immigration agents detained him. Without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge, he was put on a plane and sent first to Ghana, a country where he had no ties. He was then sent to his home country, despite a determination by a U.S. immigration court judge that he could not be deported there due to likely persecution. cbsn.ws/3Ude66r

If #MAGA was upset at Hunter Biden getting paid by Burisma, they should be outraged at this, right? Where are the posts from @GuntherEagleman @catturd2 @Timcast et al? Shocking that they seem to not care.
Jared Krusher committed outrageous levels of treasonous corruption. Don’t let the story die.

MAGA losing their mind over Lula's victory is highly entertaining. Brazil is holding the corrupt Bolsonaro family accountable. Time for the U.S. to hold the corrupt Trump family accountable.

It's wonderful to see how scared these RW propaganda accounts are scared of Telarico. He must be doing something right.
🚨 BOMBSHELL: James Talarico’s Texas House record just got shredded by the numbers. When Republicans and Democrats split, Talarico sided with Democrats 96.8% of the time. That puts him in the TOP 7% most extreme left wing of the Texas House. In 2021, he voted with Republicans about as often as Jasmine Crockett did. Almost never. This is the same guy who said “God is non-binary” and talked about dismantling capitalism, white supremacy, and climate change as oppressive systems. Now he suddenly plays moderate against Ken Paxton. Texas, he did not change. He just wants your vote.

Trump did ask Georgia Secretary of State Raffensberger to "find" the exact number of votes (11,780) to flip the 2020 election.
No. He did not literally say "I ask for the exact amount of votes necessary to win." That is your dishonest spin on what he literally said. This is why you are full of shit.

Can all #NHL fan bases make this the norm? Just designated one person to, before the anthem is sung, yell "Brady sucks". That would be beautiful.
Right before the national anthem here in Pittsburgh, a fan sympathetic to the interests of the Ottawa Senators bellowed "BRADY SUCKS!"

The war hungry statement from Trump, aside, I think Cuba doesn't have much to worry about for a long time.
Trump: When we come back from Iran, those beautiful ships will pass by Cuba. We'll keep one of them about 50 yards off the coast. They'll put their hands up, then we'll send Marco Rubio to finish the deal.

We could all use a Mark Carney right now. Just listen to the man. While Musk interferes in Canadian politics and Starlink raises serious questions about technological sovereignty, Carney is investing in Canadian alternatives. This is what leadership looks like. No grovelling, no desperate attempts to flatter billionaires, and no surrendering national security to the whims of one man. Europe, take notes.
PM Mark Carney has confirmed he’s cutting ties with Musk and Starlink and heavily backing a $2.3 billion contract with Telesat Lightspeed. Musk and his mood swings has shown us who he is and we believe him.

22 October 1943 | The number of women prisoners in the Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp, in all-female sub-camps and the experimental station of Prof. Carl Clauberg was 33,649 prisoners. During a selection that took place on that day, 1,260 women were selected (394 of them at the camp hospital). They were all murdered in a gas chamber on the same day.
