Today I had the chance to try an experimental dish prepared by the restaurant Alchemist. Oyster mushroom mycelium. As a microbiologist it felt so wrong to eat the contents of a Petri dish but I am glad I did; it was delicious! An interesting and promising alternative food source.

I think there's a real possibility, these might be a close relative, Brick Tuft, Hypholoma lateritium. More often then not, there's some degree of Red (centre cap), with Paler Orange-White outer rim. Gills start cream, turn Olive-Grey, which seem to match up. Sometimes singular
Am I right in thinking these might be young Poplar Fieldcaps Cyclocybe cylindracea? Googling indicates they can have this pinkish brown colour when young. Unfortunately didn’t check the dead wood it was on, but there are a lot of Willow trees nearby. @WildFoodUK @ray_rambling
