Yugoslavia was ruled by communists for decades. By the 1980s, its socialist economic system was struggling with debt, inflation, unemployment, and declining living standards. Hardly an economic superpower. Tito held Yugoslavia together through communist one party rule.
Yugoslavia's collapse had deep internal causes due to COMMINISM long before Western military intervention.
