Grateful for this, @unclebigbay143 🙏🏾
Thank you for telling the story with so much care.
Meet Opeyemi Adeniran (@eureka_seamless), the software engineer behind Lagos Run, now known as Danfo Run.
Opeyemi grew up in Ojuelegba, Lagos, and studied Computer Science at Yaba College of Technology.
He started his career at Exolve Technologies, where he also taught programming through Girl-Code Academy (@GirlCodeAcademy), before moving abroad and completing a master's degree in Data Science at the University of Essex (@Uni_of_Essex).
His latest project, Danfo Run (@danforun) at Eureka Gaming Studios, is a browser-based game that puts players behind the wheel of a yellow Lagos danfo, picking up passengers, navigating traffic, and experiencing the familiar chaos of Lagos roads.
What I find particularly interesting is why he built it. Having spent years away from Lagos, Opeyemi wanted to reconnect with home through something creative. He spent time recreating the environment, sounds, and familiar details that make Lagos feel like Lagos.
He wasn't even planning a major launch. After showing the game to a friend who encouraged him to share it online, thousands of people began playing and sharing their experiences. And when other developers started building similar games, he welcomed it rather than seeing them as competitors.
What I admire most about his journey is how he turned something deeply personal into an experience thousands of people could relate to. It's a reminder that some of our best ideas can come from the places we've lived, the memories we carry, and the everyday experiences we sometimes overlook.
Opeyemi's story shows how personal experiences, cultural identity, and software engineering can come together to create something people genuinely connect with. His work is also encouraging more developers to explore games inspired by everyday African experiences.
Opeyemi is definitely a builder worth following.

day 3 of yapping about building in deep tech
computer vision for a live broadcast of games
the Awuah Sport Invitational Tournament is going on right now and @GameMindAI is the intelligence layer used for extracting info from the games as they're played. no game API, just the footage
still active as i type this 😂 will share more once it's done

"If you are smart, why did you graduate with a Second Class Lower?"
You cannot ask someone this and, in the same breath, talk about emotional trauma and a chance to prove them wrong. You need to slow down and do some soul-searching. You cannot deliberately do damage and offer a panacea at the same time.
I was interviewing a young lady this morning who graduated with a Second Class Lower degree. She insisted that she was smart.
I then asked her, “If you are smart, why did you graduate with a Second Class Lower?”
She suddenly broke down in tears.
I asked her why she was crying, and she explained that she lost her mother in her first year at university and her father in her second year.
The emotional trauma affected her concentration, and she struggled to complete her education while dealing with the pain of losing both parents.
I will give her a chance to prove herself.
But this experience has left me with a troubling question:
Does our education system make adequate provisions for young people who go through such devastating experiences?
How many brilliant young people have we written off because their grades failed to reflect their true abilities, without ever asking what they went through?

✅ For the first time in Africa, a company is building something for student with student pricing in mind. Students can now attend AltSchool and get a globally recognised diploma for a super discounted student price. 💵💵.
This diploma will give you two things :
Easy access to further your education globally, and the knowledge to build your career in tech.

Yeah, was surprised as you when it happened fr, building overtime on @GameMindAI and getting more payment requests made me realize that stuff like that only happens when you solve a genuine problem for people

it's pretty crazy what life looks like when you're building in deep tech
one minute you're deep in autonomous nav for a delivery robot. then you start an esports computer vision side project, and suddenly that's what a lot of people want. teams, players, the waitlist keeps filling up, and people are already asking to pay while we're still in beta 😂
the robot is still very much in motion btw. building both at the same time is kinda cool ngl
@GameMindAI launches very soon, and i'll be posting and yapping about building in deep tech here every day for the next 30 days

For two years, I tried to get the attention of a successful founder I deeply admired.
Emails. LinkedIn messages. Follow-ups.
Nothing.
Early this year, I decided to stop waiting for a response and started researching every event where he was scheduled to speak.
Then I found one in San Diego.
The cheapest ticket was $5,000.
I booked my flight anyway because I knew he would be there.
A few days before the event, I randomly ran into him in San Francisco. I introduced myself and told him I was coming to San Diego specifically to meet him.
He was busy, so we couldn't talk much, but he connected me with his assistant to arrange a meeting.
We met in San Diego. It lasted less than 10 minutes.
But I was excited. After two years of trying, I had finally made the connection.
We reconnected again later.
And today, that same founder is speaking at the @beyondafricaorg Conference.
Two years ago, I was chasing a few minutes of his time. Today, I'm building a platform where he can share his knowledge with an entire community.
Stop waiting for opportunities to find you. Find out where they exist, and put yourself in the room.
Sometimes, the door won't open through an email. You have to take a different route. You have to show up, take initiative, and be willing to do what others aren't willing to do.

“JESUS DID NOT COME TO MAKE US FINANCIALLY RICH” — PASTOR JUDAH OLORUNMAIYE
UK Content creator Solomon Buchi appreciates a powerful message by Pastor Judah Olorunmaiye of Rhema Chapel, who challenged the teaching of some preachers that Jesus came primarily to make Christians financially rich.
The message emphasizes that the central purpose of Jesus Christ's coming was to save humanity from sin and reconcile us to God, not to make financial prosperity the ultimate goal of Christianity.
While God can bless His children financially, Christianity should not be reduced to the pursuit of wealth, material possessions, and earthly success. Our relationship with God should go beyond what we can receive from Him.
