Pre-orders are live on the new 192GB Framework Desktop! DIY Edition starts at $6,799 USD and ships in November. We're opening just one batch to start with the memory we have on hand.

The Framework Laptop 12 isn’t just any convertible laptop. Instead, it’s more like a desktop PC that you can buy pre-assembled or build yourself, as I did. Like seeing a PC you’ve built boot successfully for the first time, I felt that same spark of satisfaction when the Framework Laptop 12 turned on.
Similar to Framework’s other laptops, this one is fully repairable and upgradeable. While you can choose from three different Intel CPUs when configuring it, you can also tweak its memory, storage, and even the operating system to your liking. The same goes for the ports on either side. Unlike a traditional laptop, though, you can actually swap out the four ports on the Framework Laptop 12 depending on the task at hand using the company’s Expansion Cards.
While the Framework Laptop 12 can easily run Windows 11, it comes pre-loaded with Linux out of the box when you choose the pre-built option at checkout. For $100-$150 more, you can get Windows 11 or Windows 11 Pro pre-installed instead. However, after spending the past two weeks using the Framework Laptop 12 with Fedora Linux, I didn’t miss Windows nearly as much as I thought.
Big news: @FrameworkPuter is more than tripling its sponsorship of CachyOS, from $250/month to $10,200/year! 🎉
This helps keep our infrastructure running and brings us closer to working on CachyOS full-time.
Thank you, Framework! 💚

We're sold out of Batch 2 of the 192GB Framework Desktop, and are waiting until we have confirmed shipments and pricing on additional memory before we open additional Batches. The 128GB config is still in stock though!
We may also consolidate the small number of pre-order cancellations we've gotten and make those available for new pre-orders.
I have access to a @FrameworkPuter Desktop Gorgon Halo with 192GB of memory and besides the added RAM compared to the Strix Halo, which is very significant, what I totally love of this machine is the form factor. It is wonderfully engineered, the fan is silent even under huge load, the air flow is well designed, it is another league IMHO, without mentioning how simple it is to open and personalize. Look forward to hack with it with DwarfStar. Probably I should release a DwarStart STL to 3D print a tile with the logo :D
Regularly scheduled reminder that it’s time to dump Windows. Cachy is a great choice if you want excellent gaming performance.

In the September Steam Hardware Survey, CachyOS is now the most-used Linux distro on Steam, at 18.12% of Linux gamers (+2.65% this month).
Huge thanks to everyone who installed, tested, reported bugs & spread the word. We're just getting started. 💙
A good time to move to @AIatAMD. You can get a 128GB Strix Halo system for much less than that.
Batch one is nearly sold out, but we got confirmation of an additional shipment of memory from our supplier, so we're going to be opening up a second limited batch of pre-orders at the same pricing. Batches beyond that will depend on both CPU and memory supply and pricing.

Donato has a video up showing just what you can do with 192GB of memory on Gorgon Halo. It opens up access to some models that can't fit on the 128GB config.
