Nice work @JoshHQ Migrating from PHP, web server plus database, to one secure, unstoppable, serverless Motoko canister, which keeps its data in persistent memory, is now super easy with AI. And then you can improve it fast.
If you're on legacy web tech, just do it!
Keep the app. Retire the stack. The network runs it.
Your team stops patching servers.
Move to Motoko on the Internet Computer.

Once cloud engines reach general release, Dominic Williams expects the fastest growth among startups, "because startups are flexible and have a huge incentive to be smarter and more efficient."
In Welch's article, Dominic also expects network effects, since software on one cloud engine is interoperable with software on others, subject to permissions, which he compares to a key dynamic behind early internet growth.

Open SaaS, a coming development, aims to offer free alternatives to SaaS apps, installable on a cloud engine as easily as a phone app and rebuilt as AIware, software with AI on the inside.
In Dominic's example from Welch's piece, an HR request is made in plain language: find the overlapping PTO requests in Customer Success, approve the rest, and draft emails asking those people to move their dates.

βA new kind of cloud, created the internet way.β
That is how Dominic presents the Internet Computer in Erika Masako Welchβs analysis of sovereign cloud.
A network extended so that, as well as connecting the software behind the web, email, chat and SaaS, it can also securely and resiliently host that software and its data.

Control over cloud infrastructure is becoming a boardroom issue, and two pressures are driving it.
Geopolitical tension means governments want certainty that foreign powers cannot access their data or cut off their infrastructure.
And AI is taking a growing role in building and running online services, on infrastructure designed for human developers and sysadmins.
Erika Masako Welch's article in @EntMagazineME brings both front and centre, following Dominic Williams and cloud engines on the Internet Computer.

βEvery era of computing has a fight over who controls the infrastructure. In the AI ββera, that fight is about sovereignty: who owns the hardware a country or company runs on, who can see its data, and who can pull the plug.β
With this observation, Erika Masako Welch, Chief Content Officer of @LucidityInsight, explores how sovereign cloud becomes a strategic priority as governments and businesses confront their dependence on digital infrastructure.
In her analysis, Welch describes two forces driving this shift: geopolitical tensions that raise concerns over foreign access to data and infrastructure, and AI's growing role in building and running online services. For organizations that rely on cloud platforms to operate, control over that infrastructure becomes a boardroom issue.
At the center is the DFINITY Foundation's (@dfinity) Internet Computer, an open network that combines computing resources across data centers to host software and data. Its cloud engines allow organizations to choose the hardware supporting their services and change that configuration as their needs evolve.
Welch highlights founder Dominic Williams' claim that enterprises can move from hyperscaler computing resources to dedicated hardware in their home countries βwithout interrupting or even degrading the services you are running.β

This was the first time DFINITY attended an AI event, but it's just the start. Thank you to the organizers for a great time. I explained the way that the Internet Computer | ICP now provides the ultimate agentic infrastructure, and it was tremendously well received, with some stunning follow-ups (more details in time). At the end my keynote, I gave out an email where you can apply for cloud engine coupons βΒ and we're already seeing a steady stream of applications from that audience. The Internet Computer remains the first network creating genuine impact in the mainstream world, and the potential is unlimited.
