The hypocrisy is blinding, though. We turn away starving Haitian refugees fleeing a crisis, but the minute Washington asks to house 10,000 third-country nationals, suddenly 'incapacity' vanishes?
A diplomatic note from the United States Embassy in Kingston has stated that a Cabinet minister proposed a controversial deal to Washington that would have had Jamaica “receive” up to 10,000 third-country nationals. Read more: jamaica-gleaner.com/article/… #GLNRToday

It's estimated that around 90,000 children were left behind in the Caribbean by their parents in the 1940s and 1950s and they later became known as 'barrel children', due to the 'barrel' care packages that were sent back to them. #barrelchildren #windrush78 #migrationstories

Puerto Rico has been left broken, on purpose, by people who could fix it in a season if they wanted to.
The island of Puerto Rico is experiencing a water crisis. Nearly 100,000 people have had water services disrupted. Puerto Rico’s water outages are not caused by a lack of water. They are the result of decades of colonial neglect by the richest country on Earth.

Ireland just ended visa-free access for St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and Nicaragua, effective yesterday. First the UK. Now Ireland.

And I'll be honest, a lot of these Caribbean reading lists look like they were curated by the same three people. I want more diversity, looking for recommendations
I’m wondering why so many of these read Caribbean literary collections are missing Indo-Caribbean literature. I notice as well that they are mostly anglo-centric or diaspora concerned.
