A new generation needs a new generation of monsters.
My original horror project DARKMODE has been selected for this year's THE DEAD LIST, @TheStuntList's annual showcase of market-ready horror screenplays!
In this six-episode horror anthology series that I co-created and co-wrote with Jimmy George (@JimmyRGeorge), code monsters born from our digital sins crawl out of our screens...

I honestly feel that a lot of franchise reboots today are almost made with TOO MUCH reverence for the past. The filmmakers are fans who grew up with the properties & treat them like important pop culture epics. But sometimes they're just '80s slashers! Or ghost-busting comedies!
Overall thoughts on CRYSTAL LAKE? While I do love spending so much time in the world of Friday the 13th, it's another example of these franchises being too shackled to the past. The simple purity of the Jason/Pam story is lost in TV filler side stories. Just didn't land for me.
CRYSTAL LAKE Episode 7 feels like what Ryan Murphy would do if he was told to make a Friday the 13th prequel. I don't mean that as a compliment. The modern need to explain things that were best left unexplained can lead to baffling decisions. Jason's new backstory is one of 'em!

Pull up a tombstone and spend 3.1 hours in a moonlit graveyard with Halloweenβs favorite little murder goblin. Watch the ghosts drift by, listen to the sounds of autumn, and enjoy a little peace and quiet among the dearly departed.
Perfect for reading, writing, working, relaxing, carving pumpkins, or performing minor acts of necromancy.
So dim the lights, hit that LOOP button, and stay awhile. The dead arenβt going anywhere.
Legacy character with the most satisfying arc in CRYSTAL LAKE? Dorf. Great work from Cameron Scoggins on turning a Friday the 13th goofball into a legit character. There's much from the series I won't bring into rewatches of the original movie, but Dorf's backstory I'm keeping.

Lights. Camera. RADNESS!
Legendary special guests. Emmy-winning pros. The dopest emerging & underrepresented voices.
This is our HOT NEW SPECS showcase, featuring the best original & unproduced market-ready specs (all genres/formats/mediums). π§΅
Now that I've watched the first 4 episodes, I maybe have a better understanding of why CRYSTAL LAKE is a binge series. If you show an audience Episodes 2, 3, 4 and ask them to come back a week later to see more... I don't know that you've hooked them. Nothing is YET hooking me.
First 15 minutes of CRYSTAL LAKE Episode 1 are great. Callum Vinson breaks my heart as young Jason. Kind of baffled, however, by how fast it moves beyond that point. Jason already drowned. Pamela's already a killer. I realize we're getting lots of flashbacks, but let it breathe!
