Good start. Looking forward to seeing this through.
Oh, and Nenshi, is the PM an evil racist as well for even contemplating such an agreement with Alberta?
Prime Minister Mark Carney is not ruling out giving Alberta more authority over immigration along the lines of a deal Ottawa signed with Quebec in the early 1990s.

Certain lefty media orgs are of course attempting to torque what she said in her video to members to try and incite division. Thats expected. - they hate the UCP.
She actually said UCP members can have whatever personal views they wish on this or any other matter, but those wanting to run as candidates or party board members need to uphold the clear mandate Albertans gave on Monday - that being support for Alberta remaining in Canada.
Watch the video for yourself - don’t just read the misleading media clickbait.
#BREAKING: Alberta's Danielle Smith tells UCP members to get on Team Canada or find new party ctvnews.ca/edmonton/article/…
A must watch on where the UCP goes from here
Be sure to watch the whole video…
I hope every UCP member and supporter will watch this video.
The referendum is behind us. Albertans gave their answers and our party must honour that mandate.
What comes next is the only fight that matters, and it is twelve months away.
Naheed Nenshi's NDP have told us exactly what they will do with power:
🟠 Reopen the drug consumption sites we closed
🟠 Let minors undergo irreversible gender surgeries without their parents' knowledge.
🟠 Shut down school choice.
🟠 Bring back the production cap and the net zero regulations to phase out our energy sector.
🟠 Open border immigration.
🟠 A carbon tax.
🟠 And Avi Lewis in Ottawa pulling Nenshi’s strings.
United, our party will win. Divided the NDP wins and all Albertas would suffer as a result.
The time for division is over.
The time to unite and fight for a stronger Alberta and Canada is now.
There's a new version of this post
Didn’t have Nenshi engaging in election denialism on my bingo card today.
But here we are.
Nenshi says Albertans did not give Smith a clear positive mandate

Today I spoke directly to Albertans following yesterday’s referendum vote.
Alberta will remain in Canada, and for as long as I serve as premier, there will not be another referendum on the issue of separation.
I’m also pleased that Albertans also gave our government a mandate to take greater control over immigration, to ensure temporary residents pay their share of the services they use and to require proof of citizenship to vote. Those reforms are coming, and they will strengthen Alberta’s autonomy.
Now is the time to move forward not as a people divided by how we voted yesterday, but as neighbours, friends, Albertans and Canadians.
Together, we will keep Alberta and Canada forever strong and free.
Remember this day Alberta - Avi Lewis and Naheed Nenshi are both calling Albertans racist suckers for voting for the immigration reforms in the referendum.
They will regret that decision next fall.
I’m hearing from friends in Alberta that today is actually hitting folks pretty hard. Not the vote to remain, which was a relief, but the other 9 questions.
It’s becoming clear that the feeling of unity suggested by the referendum result is undercut by majority support for questions which feature policies that scapegoat migrants.
But no amount of punching down by Danielle Smith will fix Alberta’s health care, public education or cost-of-living crises. These are the consequences of years of underfunding, not of newcomers trying to build a life in that beautiful province.
Albertans deserve real solutions to the crises they face, not scapegoating that divides us and fuels prejudice. Right now, all Canadians have an opportunity to reject this and say: we stand with migrants facing the brunt of this cynical, negative politics.
A united Canada must mean more than just rejecting separation. It must mean actually standing up for all of us — building a movement across our differences to make this a country where everyone can live a life of dignity, equality and belonging.

Thank you, Alberta!
I’m very pleased to see the initial results from Elections Alberta show widespread support for remaining in Canada. Albertans have voted for a stronger Alberta in a united Canada.
Thank you to all Albertans who took time to vote on these critically important referendum questions.
Tomorrow evening, October 20, I will address Albertans live at 6:45 p.m. to discuss the results of all referendum questions for which results are available, and where our province goes from here.

On the ground at the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre this afternoon with Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Safety Mike Ellis, Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services Adriana LaGrange and federal Minister of National Defence David McGuinty and Acute Care Alberta interim CEO Dr. Sayeh Zielke.
We have just provided an update on the fire at CFB Wainwright.
Four members of the Canadian Armed Forces have lost their lives in service to our country.
Many more are injured and in recovery across our hospitals.
Every part of the response is being coordinated, from first responders through to the hospitals treating the injured and the critical care teams working right now.
Alberta stands with our Canadian Armed Forces and will provide whatever support is requested.
To those recovering and to the families grieving today, all of Alberta is with you.

Alberta is mourning alongside the Canadian Armed Forces and the families, friends and colleagues of those affected by the tragic incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright yesterday.
The loss of life and injuries are heartbreaking. On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and wish those who have been injured a full recovery. Our thoughts are also with the military personnel, families and colleagues facing uncertainty and grief during this incredibly difficult time.
We are deeply grateful to the first responders, paramedics, physicians, nurses and hospital teams across Alberta who have mobilized to provide care to those injured. Albertans should all be incredibly proud of their frontline health care workers and our acute care system that has managed this mass casualty event. We’re also thankful to our neighbours in Saskatchewan who did not hesitate to support our response with additional air ambulance capacity, and to other provinces who have reached out offering their support and condolences.
I will be traveling to Edmonton today to meet with provincial ministers and federal officials. The Government of Alberta continues to work closely with the federal government and local authorities. We have convened our Emergency Management Cabinet Coordination Committee and the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre (PECC) has been activated to a level 3.
As a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives and in solidarity with the military community and their families, flags at provincial government buildings across Alberta will be lowered to half-mast.
In the days ahead, our thoughts will remain with everyone affected by this tragedy. Alberta stands with the Canadian Armed Forces, the people of Wainwright and all those grieving during this difficult time.
Thoughts and prayers with our brave men and women in uniform and their wonderful families.
We are learning of a significant and tragic fire at CFB Wainwright today that is affecting many of our brave military personnel.
Alberta’s government is in close contact with the Government of Canada and Prime Minister Mark Carney as this situation evolves.
Thank you to the first responders and all those providing care and support to those affected.

The Prime Minister and I have found common ground on many things over the last 18 months. However, it appears that he has yet to fully understand just how damaging the open-border policies of his predecessor were. Those policies caused Canada’s cost of living to skyrocket, overwhelmed our social services, and made homes and jobs unattainable for thousands of young Canadians.
That’s why I’m encouraging Albertans to vote ‘yes to the rest’ to give our government a strong mandate to take more control over our immigration system, so that we can prioritize economic migrants, put Albertans first for jobs, and ensure Albertans’ social services are sustainable. We’re also asking for a strong mandate to work with willing provinces to reform the courts, abolish the senate, and protect provincial jurisdiction.
I look forward to hearing from Albertans on October 19th.
Clearly the Prime Minister fails to comprehend the immense damage his predecessor’s open border policies have had on the job and housing markets in Alberta and Canada.
All the more reason to vote yes to the first 9 referendum questions and give the Alberta government a strong mandate to take more control over our immigration system, make sure folks have to prove their citizenship in order to vote and have guest workers who are not citizens or permanent residents contribute to their health care and education costs.
Polls are open - make your voices heard Alberta!

Advance polls are open until Saturday. Make sure to get out your vote in the referendum.
I’ll be voting for Option 1 to remain in Canada on question 10.
I’m voting Option 1 because standing up for Alberta and refusing to back down is working. The emissions cap is gone. C-69 no longer applies to our energy projects. Pacific Link is moving forward. We are getting results and we need to keep going.
And on questions 1 through 9, I’m voting YES. Alberta needs more authority to make decisions in our own interests, support more sustainable immigration and protect the social services Albertans rely on.

Is someone mad they lost their court application today?
Fact is the NDP actually tried with their application to enable the separatist Republican Party (and any registered party) to have full access to the voter list before the GOA could legislatively plug the loophole to strengthen protections against further data breaches.
Major face-palm moment for Nenshi on this.
Danielle, your own staff failed to disclose to the authorities that the personal information of nearly 3 million Albertans was being illegally shared, including the former premier's home address. You did nothing. We notified the RCMP immediately.
You laughed it off repeatedly for months and did nothing to protect people.
Now you say that you acted immediately? What a joke. You acted like you always do, only when you think it helps you.
Now you're attempting to spin this to suppress get-out-the-vote efforts, making it easier for your separatist friends in this referendum.
You continue to put Albertans at risk for the sake of your own political career.
Quite the Friday. UCP racking up the W’s for Alberta.
- won our C-69 case against the “no new pipelines act”
- 2 fantastic judicial appointments following a collaborative process with the Feds
- beat the NDP court application to release the voters list to any registered party prior to making legislative amendments in fall to better protect privacy
- phenomenal jobs report for Alberta as overall and youth unemployment fall significantly
- great feedback from Edmontonians and Calgarians on rolling back blanket reasoning
Yet another big win for Alberta.
The Alberta Court of Appeal just ruled that C-69 remains largely unconstitutional.
I’m calling on the Federal Government to accept this ruling, refrain from yet another appeal, and immediately work with Alberta and the other provinces to clean up this flawed Trudeau-era legislation once and for all so it no longer inhibits economic development in our country.
This is actually a big deal folks. I’ve been around Alberta politics for awhile now, and I have never seen this level of cooperation on judicial appointments between Federal Liberal and Alberta Conservative governments.
Just a total change from Trudeau. I truly hope it is a permanent one.
These two Justices are both brilliant non-activists with reputations beyond reproach.
They will strengthen our Justice system and its reputation for fairness and impartiality.
Well done!
After collaborative discussions with Alberta’s government, the federal government announced two very qualified judicial appointments for Alberta. To our knowledge, this is the first time in decades we’ve witnessed truly non-partisan cooperation on judicial appointments between a Liberal federal government and a Conservative provincial government.
It is a clear indication that the federal government is beginning to treat Alberta with more respect and as an equal partner. Well done by all.
One of these things is not like the other…
Turns out the UCP approach of low taxes, less regulation and reasserting provincial rights is doing wonders for the province regardless of Nenshi & friends fabricated claims to the contrary.
You can’t argue with math.
A bit melodramatic Mr. Mayor.
The announcement yesterday specifically supported the steps that you and yyc council have taken to address this issue, while ensuring Edmonton begins taking a similar approach.
The fact is these municipal infill policies have greatly devalued hundreds of properties over the last several years without compensation to the home owner. That is a breach of property rights and every elected official should be supportive of adjusting the approach on this issue.
The UCP government will continue to stand up for regular homeowners and property rights.
Amazing news for our province. Huge $8 billion investment in our Canadian Armed Forces right here in Alberta.
Stronger Armed forces. Tens of thousands of jobs.
Part of re-setting Alberta’s relationship with Ottawa after the Trudeau years is seeing a return of military investment in the Alberta based Canadian Armed Forces.
Today’s announcement is a massive victory for our province and the country as we become a national defence hub.
$8 Billion in federal investment is modernizing and expanding the bases at Edmonton, Cold Lake, Suffield and Wainwright.
Today, the federal government also announced that Alberta will be home to the Western Main Operating Base for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CC-330 Husky Fleet, putting our province at the centre of how this country defends itself.
What follows is just as important. Up to 38,000 Alberta jobs. Contracts for the companies that build, maintain and supply these projects. A domestic defence industry taking root in a province that already leads in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, logistics and technology.
The men and women serving on these bases are proud Canadians and proud Albertans. They deserve facilities that match what this country asks of them.
When Canada needs the space, the expertise and the capacity to defend itself, Alberta delivers.
