TY to the @BrennanCenter for the opportunity to write about our state court disclosures report statecourtreport.org/our-wor… #statecourtreport. Now that we know how states are doing — not great, as only 1/2 put disclosures online &most leave out key categories — we can work to fix it.

Just saw this but last Aug., #SCOTUS added an audio section to p. 2 of its media guide supremecourt.gov/publicinfo/…… stating: "The Court provides a live audio feed of all scheduled oral arguments." Enough to call livestreaming policy "permanent"? We think so docs.google.com/spreadsheets…

This settlement doesn't actually change the PACER fee schedule! Somebody should absolutely copy/paste this entire docket and do it all over again. The lawyers from this round got $20M. That could be you in a number of years, if you do the same.

"Under the terms of the proposed Settlement, each class member will receive a minimum payment of the lesser of $350 or the total amount paid in PACER fees by that class member during the Class Period" "paid PACER fees between April 21, 2010 and May 31, 2018"

Smart/common sense changes to help arrest judge shopping by litigants across the United States. Doesn’t mean you still won’t have Dems filing suit in Hawaii or Republicans in the northern district of Texas but it makes it slightly less attractive to do so
The Judicial Conference of the United States today strengthened the policy governing random case assignment to limit the practice of “judge shopping,” when litigants strategically choose where to file cases in hopes of being assigned a certain judge. uscourts.gov/news/2024/03/12…
