One of the greatest honors of my first term in Congress has been helping secure full federal recognition for the Lumbee Tribe.
The Lumbee Fairness Act was the first bill I co-introduced as a Member of Congress, and after months of work with the North Carolina delegation, it was included in the 2026 NDAA.
With more than 68,000 members, the Lumbee Tribe is the largest American Indian tribe east of the Mississippi River and an essential part of our state and nation.
After nearly 70 years of fighting for equal treatment under federal law, the Lumbee people finally received the recognition they deserve when President Trump signed the legislation into law last December.

Far-Left Minnesota prosecutors have charged James O’Keefe and Cam Higby with FELONIES for exposing their insane election policies that ALLOWS illegal aliens to vote.
State law allows registered voters to ‘vouch’ for up to 8 people on Election Day, without any verification.
Instead of securing their elections, they’re prosecuting the people exposing them.

Last October, I introduced the North Rim Restoration Act in response to the Dragon Bravo Fire. In under 6 months, we got the bill passed out of the House. We now await a final vote on the Senate floor before it becomes law.

Raised in Augusta County and Staunton, Brandon served with distinction, flying combat missions in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Atlantic Resolve. He later returned to the classroom, shaping the next generation of Army leaders at Old Dominion University. When his students faced unimaginable danger from a radical Islamic terrorist, he did not hesitate to put himself between them and harm, giving his life to protect his students.
We are grateful for Lt. Col. Shah and his family's sacrifice. We will never forget his service to our Nation.
