Two critical vulnerabilities have been identified in PHP, a widely used programming language that powers websites and web applications. These vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) could allow malicious cyber actors to remotely execute code in PHP core, potentially compromising sensitive data and networks. The FBI urges organizations to take the following steps now: ➡️ If an immediate update is not feasible it is recommended that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. ➡️ Immediately update affected PHP installations following the guidance on php.net. Inventory where PHP runs in your environment, prioritizing internet-facing systems and vendor products that bundle PHP. ➡️ Monitor web servers for suspicious activity, including PHP processes unexpectedly launching command shells or downloading files. Ensure appropriate process-monitoring capabilities are in place to help identify potential exploitation. ➡️ If you find signs of compromise, isolate affected systems, preserve your web server and PHP logs, and report it to your local FBI field office or ic3.gov. Those reports help us identify the actors involved and warn other organizations before they become victims. For the latest information, follow PHP’s announcement on php.net, CERT-EU Security Advisory 2026-018, and CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

they’re calling it “Black October” and i don’t think people realize how serious this is in the last 48 hours there have been over 27 major cybersecurity incidents. not in a month. not in a week. in 48 hours any ONE of these would normally be the biggest story of the year PHP: critical vulnerability in the software running 80% of the web. severity 9.2 out of 10 Node.js: high-severity flaw letting attackers take over servers remotely. affects versions 22, 24, and 26 Java: also compromised. three of the most used programming languages on earth hit at the same time GitLab: a perfect 10 out of 10 severity hole in every version since 2014 Railway: hosting platform compromised. API keys for OpenAI, Claude, Stripe potentially exposed Signal: a bug that could leave your mic and camera on after you hang up WordPress: hackers stole a plugin maker’s keys and planted backdoors on websites LiteLLM: an AI tool downloaded 3.4 million times a day was poisoned with a password stealer and that’s not even half the list thousands of AI agent swarms are reportedly scanning and attacking vulnerable servers right now. automated. around the clock security researchers are saying this might be the early stages of a global cyber incident that nobody fully understands yet if you run a website, use cloud services, store API keys on hosting platforms, or use any software built on PHP, Node.js, or Java you are potentially affected update everything. rotate your API keys. change your passwords on critical services. enable 2FA everywhere you haven’t already this is not a normal week on the internet. this is something different

AI models are finding far more vulnerabilities than humans ever did. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says that means "companies will have to rewrite almost all of their code to be agentically capable." "If you look at all of the nervousness of the last month or two about models, they are focused on the more fantastical scenarios... I don't think that there is enough discussion about the more immediate-term risks, which are really around cybersecurity." "These models find so many more vulnerabilities than you did before, that humans weren't finding." "Today, you find vulnerabilities, people classify the vulnerabilities, people develop patches. And then even if you do that part quick, most companies take a long time to deploy because there are all these dependencies. You're gonna have to deploy in minutes." "If you don't actually have your applications rewritten to be able to be updated by agents, you're gonna have no chance in that new world." @ajassy
Five years into his run as CEO, Andy Jassy has nearly tripled the size of AWS, grown Amazon's revenue by about 80%, and expects to spend $220 billion this year to win AI. Amazon's AI business hit a $25 billion run rate in three years, growing several hundred times faster than early AWS. Jassy joins a16z's Ben Horowitz and Erik Torenberg to discuss the decisions behind that run, from rebuilding Amazon's fulfillment network after the pandemic to the AWS origin story. They also cover why data centers became a political fight, Amazon's custom chips, its stakes in Anthropic and OpenAI, why inference needs to get 10x cheaper, AI's most underrated risk, and why every company will have to reinvent its products from scratch, plus Jassy's advice for anyone who's 18 today. 0:47 How Amazon has changed since 2021 1:51 How the pandemic reshaped retail 3:30 Why AI supercharged AWS's growth 5:20 When leadership principles clash 9:36 $60M vs. $25B: early AWS vs. early AI 13:20 How the AI CapEx cash cycle works 15:44 Why the US must build data centers 20:55 The labs-to-enterprise AI barbell 23:12 Demand vs. longtime AWS customers 28:11 Annapurna, Graviton, and Trainium 33:55 Backing Anthropic and OpenAI 37:15 Why AI means smaller teams 42:13 AI's underrated risk: security 46:29 Why Amazon rewired Alexa's brain 53:07 What Jassy tells his kids about AI 56:36 Betting on AI, robotics, and space YouTube: youtu.be/-YMMRQ1qscI @ajassy @Amazon @bhorowitz @eriktorenberg
