It’s #AmphibianWeek – What are amphibians? Simply put amphibians are vertebrates (animals with backbones) which spend part of their lives on land and part in water. We have 7 native amphibian species in the UK: 2 frogs, 2 toads & 3 newts. Find out more at: arc-trust.org/amphibians
Amphibians are cool and awesome! DYK that the Philippines has ~115 described amphibian species, of which 82% is endemic and 22% is threatened under the @IUCNRedList. Below are species of montane tree frogs (Philautus spp.) that are known only from Greater Mindanao. #AmphibianWeek

Very excited to start #AmphibianWeek. Not furry, nor scaly, without feathers or claws, amphibians are a group of vertebrates that share amazingly porous, slimy, dry skin, and cheeky smiles. This group includes frogs, salamanders, newts and caecilians. @amphibiansorg

So just to be clear, in a post-midnight press release, the government is threatening to send Australian citizens to jail for five years if they try to get home from India - to protect Australian citizens. What an utter statement of failure of our quarantine arrangements.
