We have reached a key milestone in the development of Stage Two of our Waroona Renewable Energy Project in Western Australia, with Western Power deeming the project ‘Ready to Progress’ under its Critical Projects Framework. The designation recognises Stage Two as a project of strategic importance and provides greater certainty around progressing its connection to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). Waroona’s Stage Two is planned to comprise a 130MW solar generation facility paired with an 80MW (~8-hour) battery energy storage system (BESS), building on infrastructure already being developed as part of Stage One, where site works commenced in September. Our Executive Chairman Jamie Cullen said: “Being deemed Ready to Progress is a key milestone in the development process and recognises the strategic significance of Stage Two. “With a sizeable landholding and ability to cost-effectively access the SWIS, the development of Stage Two is central to our strategy to establish the Waroona Project as a major renewable energy hub in Western Australia’s South-West region.” Read more: loom.ly/jb2CPIk $FHE

Renewables and batteries are ready to plug into Australia’s dream of green data centres, writes journalist Bevis Yeo in the @Australian. Our CEO Adam Kiley @Soph_Investor is interviewed in the article below, discussing future energy requirements for data centres, legislation expected to be introduced in 2027 requiring data centres to support or underwrite their own energy requirements – a potential major catalyst for new renewable energy investment – and Frontier $FHE being well-placed to benefit. “Large data centres operate around the clock and need secure, long-term power supply, making them ideal counterparties for renewable energy and battery storage projects. Long-term contracts from data centre operators can improve project bankability, support debt financing and accelerate the development of new solar, wind and battery assets," he said. “If new data centre demand is matched with additional renewable capacity, overall emissions growth can be limited and, in some cases, existing fossil fuel generation can be displaced." “Going forward, successful data centre developments are likely to be closely integrated with renewable generation and energy storage projects, making collaboration between data centre operators and companies such as Frontier essential to the development of both industries." 📰 Read the full story: theaustralian.com.au/busines…
