I just don’t understand small market baseball team fans, like Pittsburgh or Miami or wherever, that are for and approve of and are often even rooting for the likely upcoming ownership lockout!
It’s like being a lifelong fan of a restaurant whose owner refuses to buy any ingredients, keeps the kitchen staff on minimum wage, and serves the same frozen meal every night, then passionately arguing that the chefs are the reason the place is empty and that a “cap on what chefs can earn” is the only thing that will save restaurants.
The Pirates haven’t tried to win. That’s not a labor issue. That’s an ownership choice.
Seems to me the anger is pointed in the wrong direction!
Bob Nutting is worth a billion dollars
Scott Boras is main culprit on why their will be a lockout this offseason. His horrific contracts have destroyed baseball.
The Top 1% of players and Scott Boras do NOT actually care about everyone else in the league. They only care about themselves.
Don't let MLBPA pretend like they care about guys like Nick Gonzales or Jake Mangum because they don't. They only care about the Juan Sotos and the Bryce Harpers. If they actually cared about every player, they would be in favor of a salary cap/floor.
Valued at over $16 BILLION and still have the nerve to beg for a salary cap…
Yes, the Yankees received $2.6 billion from a private equity company for, essentially, 16 percent of the team, according to a league source.
No, the Steinbrenners don't have plans to sell their majority stake, owner Hal said today.

Because they didn’t bring back the worst manager in baseball? (Who was NOT under contract, BTW)

Used to live down the street from the LP one and it is one of the places in the neighborhood I miss the most. One of the most underrated burgers in the city.
I mean I definitely hate myself, but not THIS much
Want to spend a lot of time engaging with Cubs fans? GOOD NEWS! The Cubs are hiring a Fan Engagement Manager! my1060wd.wd5.myworkdayjobs.c…
Reminder as everyone talks about how the Brewers are grinders and underdogs and everyone counted them out and have overlooked them their entire lives...
Their position player group features five 1st round picks and two $1M+ IFA bonus recipients.
Sato is the big name from Japan this off-season, but I actually don't think the Cubs will be overly involved here for a couple reasons.
1) More $ needed for pitching than position players
2) Sato's profile of high whiff and lots of chase doesn't really fit profile Cubs like.
The Hanshin Tigers have officially announced they will approve 3B/RF Teruaki Sato’s posting to MLB this offseason.

Happy for Jared and also excited that the Cubs get to add a new voice on the scouting and player dev side.
This is a good illustration of the dangers of percentile chart based analysis (which I’m guilty of too).
Schwarber ran a 70.2% contact rate, which is fairly normal for elite sluggers. Muni’s was 60.2%, which is 4th worst in the last 10 years, in Gallo/Hiura/Sano territory.
Quite the accusation, especially when the likely reason is that turnover is high in lower level positions and it’s a bitch for the digital team to maintain.
Someone from the Cubs reached out to say their number is more than double what I’m showing here. If that’s the case, that means they’re not listing dozens of people in the sources I used (their media guide, BA directory, and website). That’s either due to a major error or to them intentionally hiding them, perhaps so they don’t get poached. Either reason is embarrassing, and the latter is shameful.
So the lower spending teams haven’t spent to keep pace with revenues. They’re the problem.
On #SpiritDay, MLB stands together to send a message of acceptance and kindness to LGBTQ youth everywhere.
Bullying has no place in our game or our communities, and it is important that every single person feels safe and accepted.
As we wear purple on Spirit Day, let’s pledge to create environments where every young person knows that they are seen, supported and celebrated. #MLBTogether
Man after all the criticism (myself included) Jed really did pick the right shortstop that offseason
Dave Dombrowski told Trea Turner it's "mandatory" that he's better defensively at shortstop.
"If he plays shortstop as he did in 2025, then he can play the position. If he plays it as he did in 2026, he can't."
Dombrowski added that Turner is "very willing" to do what's best for the organization if he doesn't play shortstop.
Their stance is backed by their desire to increase franchise values. They don’t care about you. Don’t let them trick you.
MLB owners do not intend to pivot from their insistence on a salary cap and floor no matter who wins the World Series, per @JeffPassan
Their stance is “backed” by surveys that show fans want one
