Common Australian TERF Myths
MYTH - The 2013 amendments to the SDA were "done in stealth"
DEBUNKED👇

The funniest thing about this is all the crazed people in the replies screaming that all men are, in fact, predators and agreeing that society must be segregated.
Taking a leaf from such bigots as racists, they don’t even realise how effed up they sound.
Actually scratch that, your average racist has more discretion than these crazies.
So in this weeks episode of GC’s having a normal one, we have apparently learned from them that:
- all men are possibly predators and must be safeguarded against.
- all male doctors must be safeguarded against.
- all male hairdressers must be safeguarded against.
- I am a man. Or I might be trans. They can always tell or something.
- @socfemoz and @Funfems are definitely men.
- Segregation (their word) of the sexes is the only safe option.
- They have a right to live in a segregated society.
I’ve seen this kind of rhetoric before about race and it doesn’t lead anywhere good.

Have you seen the rumour that TERFs are now demanding their own toilet on the right wing of aeroplanes when they fly?
“Safe places”.
Bianca Menolotto 🦘🌙 retweeted
This seems to be a very difficult concept for GC/TERFs to grasp because they have been led to believe the SDA gives women special rights and privileges (I wish)

You can tell every small business across Australia that sex discrimination is unlawful.
Therefore, a women-only public event is unlawful because it's sex discrimination (against men).

She’s suing Adelaide university because 200 complaints have been made against her?
And that’s the university’s fault?
This woman is either not well or plain deluded.
PS Wait for the next set of crowdfunding for the court case.

Wondering why the Liberal Party are suddenly pretending to care about women & their ‘rights’, want sex defined & give women a right to discriminate againsr men for any reason whatsoever?
There are a number of reasons but mainly because it would allow men to do the same women.

THE HORRIBLE "LEFT"
Foundational Social Security & Labor Rights (Early 1900s)
The Harvester Judgement (1907): Established the legal precedent of a "living wage," ensuring wages were high enough to support a worker, spouse, and children in frugal comfort. [1]
Age and Invalid Pensions (1908): Introduced the first national old-age and disability pension systems to provide a state-backed safety net. [1, 2]
Maternity Allowance (1912): Introduced under the Fisher Labor Government, providing financial assistance to new mothers regardless of marital status. [1, 2]
🏛️ The Post-WWII "Reconstruction" (Curtin and Chifley Governments, 1941–1949)
Post-War Immigration Program: Formulated the massive migration strategy under the slogan "populate or perish," which transformed modern multi-ethnic Australia.
Expansion of Welfare: Created the Unemployment and Sickness Benefits system and established the Commonwealth Employment Service (CES).
Major Infrastructure Projects: Initiated the construction of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme to modernize the energy grid. [1]
⚡ The Modernization Wave (Whitlam Government, 1972–1975)
Despite a tumultuous end, the 1,000 days of the Whitlam government fundamentally altered Australian society: [1]
Healthcare (Medibank): Established Australia's first universal, public health insurance system (the precursor to Medicare).
Free University Education: Abolished tuition fees for tertiary education to broaden access based on merit rather than wealth.
Human Rights & Social Reform: Passed the Racial Discrimination Act 1975, abolished conscription, dismantled the remaining remnants of the White Australia Policy, and introduced the Family Law Act 1975 (which created "no-fault" divorce).
Indigenous Land Rights: Symbolically handed back land to the Gurindji people and drafted the foundation for the Aboriginal Land Rights Act. [1, 2, 3]
📈 Economic Reforms & Environmental Protection (Hawke and Keating Governments, 1983–1996)
This era paired progressive social policy with economic deregulation: [1]
Medicare: Re-established universal healthcare in 1984 after the previous system had been dismantled by conservative successors.
Universal Superannuation (1992): Mandated employer-funded retirement savings, resulting in one of the largest pension asset pools globally.
Economic Modernization: Floated the Australian dollar, deregulated the banking sector, and lowered tariffs to integrate Australia into the global economy.
Environmental Wins: Intervened to protect the Franklin River in Tasmania, protected Kakadu National Park, and secured World Heritage listing for the Queensland Wet Tropics.
Mabo and Native Title (1993): Enacted the Native Title Act following the historic High Court Mabo decision, legally overturning the fiction of terra nullius. [1]
💸 Global Financial Crisis & Social Schemes (Rudd and Gillard Governments, 2007–2013)
GFC Economic Stimulus: Deployed an aggressive fiscal stimulus package that famously kept Australia out of recession during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS): Established a comprehensive national program to fund long-term care and support for Australians with permanent and significant disabilities.
National Apology: Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered the historic formal apology to the Stolen Generations of Indigenous Australians.
Paid Parental Leave: Introduced Australia's first national, government-funded paid parental leave scheme. [1, 2]
💼 Cost of Living & Tax Redistribution (Albanese Government, 2022–Present)
Stage 3 Tax Cut Re-design (2024): Restructured previously legislated income tax brackets to direct a greater share of tax relief toward low- and middle-income earners rather than high earners. [1, 2]
Expanded Fee-Free TAFE: Provided hundreds of thousands of fee-free vocational training places to address national skill shortages. [1]
Cheaper Childcare & Medicines: Increased childcare subsidies for working families and lowered the maximum co-payment costs for prescription medicines. [1]

Their entire position is premised on the assumption that
1. Sex discrimination is lawful if it's women discriminating against men - it's not
2. Any activity automatically falls within the scope of the SDA - it doesn't
Bianca Menolotto 🦘🌙 retweeted
Senator Cash surely understands that ‘biological rights’ are contrary to the entire purpose of the Sex Discrimination Act and Its intention is to protect from discrimination, not to allow it
Of course the Liberal Party wants this as it would equally apply to men

Amanda Stoker said abortion shouldn’t be available even for women who have been raped, she said sexuality was a choice. Now David Crisafulli has appointed her the LNP’s minister responsible for LGBQTIA+ policy, the prevention of domestic and family violence, and child safety.

Nailed it. These crazed people in my replies screaming for segregation of the sexes don’t realise that the legal and financial backers of the GC movement are religious conservatives trying to overturn existing equality legislation.

Could not agree more.
I listened to all of the tributes to Helen Haines today.
So impressed with the mood, respect and what seemed to be a genuine desire to reflect on what politicians and media could do better. On all sides of the house.
The only two speakers who played politics were Angus Taylor and Tim Wilson. It was absolutely a misread, not the time or place. Says it all about those two.

It is utterly disingenuous to pretend a discourse about a NSW Health policy that says that you can’t request a doctor of your preferred sex in a public hospital emergency department is actually about toilet cubicles.
Replying to @themamabun
It is utterly disingenuous to attempt to force a comparison with racial segregation. Race is not Sex. Every Race is segregated by Sex when it comes to public facilities where people are vulnerable or in a state of undress.
Bianca Menolotto 🦘🌙 retweeted
You obviously don’t know what protective legislation is.
Protective legislation was the norm until the 1970’s in Australia, the US and the UK and is still extant in places like India which still has a ban on night shift. It’s premised on the idea that women are vulnerable and need protection from men in sex segregated facilities and workplaces. In practice, it meant women were banned from eg public bars and couldn’t work in many jobs, particularly those requiring night shifts. There was an international workers union ban on women doing nightshift except for nursing which required sex segregated nurses quarters on site. So women were eg not allowed to work as bakers in 1970’s Australia. Women also couldn’t continue working if they got married as they might get pregnant and be even more vulnerable, so eg the Commonwealth Bank fired you if you got married.
So yes, we certainly f*cking DID vote to end protective legislation and sex segregation.
Replying to @themamabun
Stop at "equality."
We most certainly DID NOT vote to end "protective legislation." It has NEVER managed to actually protect, yet.
Are you 20 yrs old or just woefully mistaken?

Absolute fire here from Monique Ryan:
“She is a negative force in Australian politics.”
For decades Pauline Hanson has been platformed and legitimised despite the racism, bigotry and division.
If you’re going to give her the platform and the reach, then hold her to account.
