Brilliant accomplishment. The biggest risks are behind us now. Will still have to wait ~6 months for first images, but the chances of great science actually happening have improved greatly. So excited to see those first images, and to learn from the interpretations.
Two weeks after launch, @NASAWebb has hit its next biggest milestone: the mirrors have completed deployment and the next-generation telescope has taken its final form.
Next up for Webb? Five months of alignment and calibration before we start getting images:
