Minister in The Presidency, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, joined by Ward 14 Councillor and MMC for Roads and Transport, Councillor Lindile Mnguni, and the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), took part in a tree planting initiative as part of the #LoveYourStreet Campaign. The activity was made even more special by the joy and enthusiasm of local residents who joined in, watering the newly planted trees and showing their commitment to caring for their community. Their participation reflects the spirit of Ubuntu and the understanding that building a cleaner, greener neighbourhood is a shared responsibility. As the saying goes, “A tree with strong roots laughs at the storm.” 🌱 Just as trees grow stronger through their roots, communities grow stronger through unity, care and collective action. #LoveYourStreet 💚

#TeamCSIR joined over a thousand delegates at the #AfricaGreenHydrogenSummit2026, held on 15–16 September 2026 at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town. Known as Africa's renowned green hydrogen event, the summit set out to shape the future of clean energy on the continent creating a platform focused on tangible strategic investments and future-focused developments to position Africa as a global leader in Green Hydrogen production. Under the theme "From PowerPoint to Gigawatts," conversations focused on discussing concepts toward breaking ground and executing transformational projects at scale. In financial support of this momentum, a range of countries and institutions, including the European Union, Netherlands, the Industrial Development Corporation, and the Development Bank of Southern Africa were mentioned. The message was clear “Africa isn't just talking about green hydrogen. We're building it”. At the CSIR, we're delighted to contribute the research, development and innovation that will help in the shaping and realisation of this vision. For more information visit: csir.co.za
