Devolution was voted in to prove that the Scottish people would elect people who would look after Scotland. Nearly 30 years later, can you honestly say the standard of Scotland has improved? Why would the standard improve post full independence if they cant run what they control?
Scotland seriously needs to question what devolution and Holyrood actually delivers for the money it consumes. After years of political theatre, constitutional obsession and endless blame-shifting and scandal, where is the meaningful improvement in peopleโs lives?
Is this extra layer of governance delivering value, accountability and better outcomes, or has it become an expensive circus in its own right?
Perhaps itโs time to stop treating devolution as untouchable and start asking whether it is actually working.
Devolution should exist to serve Scotland, not to serve the political ambitions of unqualified grifters.
