🚨 Crash Responders Safety Week 🚨
Every day, first responders work just feet away from live traffic. They deserve to make it home safely.
When you see a vehicle stopped along the roadway:
✅ Move over, if it's safe
✅ Slow down
✅ Stay alert
Give them room to work.

🧡 Today, we said goodbye to our friend and colleague Jamil Wilson, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on Oct. 19.
Flags are at half-staff across New York, tributes are displayed on Thruway signs and a large crowd gathered to honor Jamil’s life and service.

Today, we remember Ron Deming, a Thruway employee killed in the line of duty 10 years ago while assisting a stranded motorist along I-90 in Little Falls.
In our 75+ year history, 23 Thruway employees have lost their lives on the job, including one just last week.

That text can wait. The road can’t.
Distracted driving puts you, your passengers and everyone around you at risk. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.
📵 Stay focused. Stay alive.

It is with deep sadness that I announce that Jamil B. Wilson, a dedicated Thruway Maintenance Worker in our Cross Westchester Expressway Maintenance Section, tragically passed away yesterday. 1/
Since 2021, we've been proud to work with Westchester and Rockland domestic violence groups to host the "Shine the Light" walk to honor survivors and victims & raise awareness about available resources. The walk was held yesterday during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. #DVAM26
Saturday is National Move Over Day. 🚓🚒🛻
First responders, tow operators and highway workers put their lives on the line every day to protect ours. Give them the space they need to go home safe.
When you see flashing lights on the side of the road, remember: Slow Down, Move Over

Ahead of National Move Over Day (Oct. 17), the Thruway joined our transportation and law enforcement partners to remind drivers that New York's Move Over Law requires motorists to slow down and safely move over for ALL vehicles stopped along the roadside.🚧👷♂️🛻

🚧 Ten years ago this month, we lost our friend and colleague Ron Deming because a driver failed to move over.
Our crews are real people with families waiting for them at home. Please slow down and safely move over for all stopped vehicles. It could save someone's life.

[Radar Update -10/14 12:00 PM] Some brief showers and passing cloud cover will bring an end to some of the warmest temperatures of the day. Following the showers, we'll remain dry until late Thursday night.
Thank you for your patience. Maintenance work has been completed and the shared use path is now open.
You can’t always change lanes. But you can always slow down.
A highway worker. A driver with a flat. Both deserve to get home safely.
Move over when you safely can. When you can’t, slow DOWN.
To those who already do: thank you. Lives depend on it.
PLAN AHEAD: The shared use path will open to the public no later than 2 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 13, to facilitate maintenance activities. If you need to cross the bridge, Hudson Link buses stop near both landings and can carry up to three bikes each. Info: ridehudsonlink.com
