See F1 on a seed packet and you are looking at a corporate hybrid, not a true heirloom. F1 means first generation hybrid, a cross bred so every plant comes up identical, usually from large seed companies. Seed saved from an F1 plant will not grow true, so gardeners have to buy new seed every year. Bayer now owns Seminis, one of the largest vegetable seed companies on earth. Back the growers still saving real seed on Localize. Sources: Wikipedia

Under U.S. law, a company may determine that a substance is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for a particular intended use without submitting a voluntary GRAS notice to the FDA. Consequently, the FDA’s public GRAS inventory has an important limitation, it does not necessarily include every substance being marketed on the basis of a GRAS conclusion. If voluntary GRAS notice is submitted, a company notifies the FDA of its GRAS conclusion, and the agency evaluates the notice and publishes information about its response. If a GRAS conclusion is reached without notification, a company may market the substance for the specified use without submitting a GRAS notice, provided the applicable legal requirements are met. Because notification is voluntary, the inventory reflects notices received by the FDA, not necessarily all substances companies consider GRAS. This means that the absence of a substance from the FDA’s GRAS inventory does not, by itself, establish that the substance is unsafe, unauthorized, or being marketed illegally. Conversely, a company’s independent GRAS conclusion does not automatically establish that its conclusion is legally valid.
Precisely what are we fermenting? We took our questions about genetically engineered ‘precision fermented food’, GRAS, purity, and our children directly to the FDA. By @GMOScience gmwatch.org/en/latest-news/2…

Unfortunately, the Trump administration approved the continued use of the pesticide atrazine, manufactured by ChemChina-Syngenta, after a Fish and Wildlife Service review concluded wrongly that it does not pose an extinction risk to endangered animals and plants in the U.S. That decision now clears another major step for the EPA to continue allowing the pesticide to be used across American farms. Atrazine, a pesticide so toxic that it has the ability to turn male frogs into females, has been banned by more than 60 countries, including China, yet it is the second most widely used herbicide in the U.S., trailing only glyphosate. The new atrazine review goes against what the EPA said in 2021, warning that the pesticide could harm more than 1,000 protected animal and plant species across the country. Studies also link atrazine to birth defects, fertility issues and several types of cancer, posing risks to humans as well. Because the pesticide industry has full control over the White House and all of our regulatory agencies, we will not see health-protective actions on pesticides from this administration. Despite all of the campaign promises, what we'll see is more pesticide approvals and more poison in our food, water and environment. The Trump administration continues to throw Americans under the bus to help foreign corporations profit from selling toxic pesticides. AMERICA FIRST? NOT EVEN CLOSE. Tell the White House and Congress that this is not acceptable. They must direct the EPA to join the rest of the world in banning atrazine. We elect our legislators to represent us and not corporations. They must be told they will suffer the consequences in forthcoming election cycles if they continue working against our health and best interests. toxinfreeusa.org/take-action…

Chad Marlow's stance on Flock cameras at the Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism is excellent! He's the only one calling for a ban on the cameras. That's a big deal when so few influential people stand up for what's best for Americans and the principles in our Constitution. Chad Marlow is the Senior Policy Counsel for surveillance, privacy & technology at the ACLU. We need people like Chad Marlow in public office. Feel free to give him a follow: @ChadAaronMarlow @ACLU

🚨#BREAKING: An employee for Flock told a reporter that if he wants privacy, he can "opt out of society." So that reporter filmed a Flock worker installing a Flock cam on a public road next to his house... ...so Flock called 3 POLICE OFFICERS to pull over THE REPORTER for following them Yep, you read that right... the surveillance camera company called the cops because someone was surveilling them install surveillance. The reporter's name is Brendan Keefe. He's a national investigative reporter who has been digging into Flock and police abuse of its surveillance network since January. Flock happened to be upgrading a camera about a mile from Keefe's own house, so he parked at a distance, put out his press placard, put on a yellow vest, and pulled out a news camera. The Flock installer saw him, packed up his ladder, jumped in his vehicle, and took off. Keefe followed several cars back to document the next installation. The Flock employee picked up the phone and called 911. "I work with Flock Safety, and I'm getting followed, harassed pretty much, taking videos and pictures." Next thing Brenden sees are THREE Georgia police cars with their lights on behind him. "The reason why I'm stopping you is because there is a vehicle that says that you have been following them." He was released with no charges. Because he did nothing wrong. Filming in public is legal in all 50 states.

Home milk delivery had nearly disappeared in the United States by the two thousands. Interest has revived over the past decade alongside the wider local food movement, with a further bump during the pandemic. Small dairies offering delivery often reuse the same glass bottles the way the industry did a century ago. Milk that traveled days from a warehouse is not really the same product as milk delivered fresh from nearby.

Nagdaha Lake was drowning in nutrient pollution. Nepal's fix was 40 floating rafts of bamboo, foam, and trash. Five months later, nitrate had fallen 94% and the fish were coming back. Nagdaha Lake had once been used for irrigation, washing, and other daily tasks. But decades of household runoff, agricultural fertilizer, and waste from nearby settlements loaded the water with nutrients. Nutrients don't sound all that bad, but when they build up, they feed runaway algae. When the algae die, microbes consume oxygen while breaking them down. The water can become hypoxic: fish and other aquatic animals are left trying to breathe in a lake with too little oxygen. Local groups cleaned, dredged sediment and pulled invasive water hyacinth. But the nutrient load kept arriving, so the problem kept coming back. At the end of 2022, researchers gave the lake something like an artificial root system. They built 40 floating rafts from bamboo, foam, coconut fiber and discarded materials, then planted them with native flowering plants. The roots hung directly in the polluted water. The plants took up nutrients as they grew, while bacteria living around the roots transformed more of the pollution. Photosynthesis also returned dissolved oxygen to the water. The rafts covered only 0.34% of the lake. After only five months, nitrate at the best-performing site had fallen by 94%. Iron fell by as much as 95%, and ammonia by as much as 68%.

Greenhouses stopped spraying and started mailing in boxes of ladybugs instead. One ladybug can eat around five thousand aphids over its lifetime. Growers release them by the thousand to patrol leaves a sprayer never reaches. Localize can point you to a greenhouse grower near you. Sources: UC Agriculture and Natural Resources

An important and brilliant piece of selfless work. Thanks for putting this into writing, exposing and helping to fight the chemical assault on Nigerian and global children. I’m humble you were inspired by me. You inspire me as well. If you come across this it’s a must read.
I have published/lectured on what's making our children sick from Detroit to Bejing. Here is my newly published paper on Nigerian children. The goal: Reduce the chemical assault on our children globally. Thank you, Toheeb Azeez, for inspiring me to write this paper. @LgFarmerPodcast gmoscience.org/2026/09/02/wh…

🚨Something extraordinary happened in Pennsylvania. Across the same counties — during the same weeks — three events converged: • a measles emergency response • MMR pop-up clinics targeting Amish communities • aerial and ground pesticide spraying Coincidence does not establish causation. But when public-health interventions and environmental exposures overlap this tightly, the public deserves a complete accounting. So we built one. The PA 2026 Anomaly is a citizen-led investigative record bringing the dates, locations, spraying records, health response, clinics, and public documents together in one place. Explore the evidence yourself: pa-2026-anomaly.pages.dev/ 🔁 Share this. 🔍 Audit the record. 📬 Ask Pennsylvania officials to explain the overlap.

Dr. Michelle Perro (@GMOScience) — who has long raised concerns about pediatric drug use — called Nasr’s death a “preventable tragedy.” Nasr’s California doctor prescribed her a drug with known side effects to presumably treat a symptom without addressing the root cause. Those side effects “set off a fatal chain reaction.” “That’s the nightmare the GLP-1 boom was always risking, and it should be a wake-up call: These drugs are not a good idea for young people.” As a pediatrician, Perro said she was “so alarmed” that weight-loss drugs were greenlit for kids that she wrote a handout warning parents about their risks. The handout cites potential negative health effects in young people, including gastrointestinal issues, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, thyroid tumors, nutritional deficiencies, mental health risks and unknown long-term effects — because long-term studies have yet to be done. People taking GLP-1 medications have also reported that the drugs led to dental decay and anorexia.

Huge Shout-out to @AsmConnolly calling out the Pest Control Advisers who make money from selling toxic herbicides and pesticides, then act as advisors- a blatant conflict of interest. @UnivarSolutions' own Bert Lopez, PCA for O'Connell Landscaping, tried to gaslight parents and gave harmful disinformation back in 2019. (receipt in comments) Ladera Ranch Residents have been sounding the alarm for over a decade. @CA_PesticideReg do better! #ProtectChildren We need a full independent audit @Damon_Connolly @CAgovernor @POTUS @EPA @OrangeCoSheriff @GMOScience @glyphosate @GlyphosateGirl

MONSANTO’S DIRTY DOZEN: 12 PRODUCTS THAT HAVE POISONED THE PLANET AND OUR BODIES Now owned by Bayer... this is the documented track record of one of the most toxic companies in history. While they claimed to “feed the world,” they unleashed chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, mass death, and permanent environmental damage. 1. Saccharin – Artificial sweetener they mass-produced. Linked to cancer. Still lurking in some products. 2. PCBs – Industrial chemicals they manufactured for decades. Extremely persistent toxins tied to cancer, immune collapse, and hormone disruption. Still circulating in human blood and the environment decades after the ban. 3. Polystyrene (Styrofoam) – One of the most hazardous waste generators on Earth. Non-biodegradable and linked to chronic health effects. 4. Nuclear weapons research – Monsanto’s labs played a key role in the Manhattan Project. 5. DDT – One of the first major pesticides they manufactured. Banned for causing ecological collapse and human health damage… yet residues still linger. 6. Dioxin – Extremely toxic byproduct. Confirmed human carcinogen that bioaccumulates in the food chain. 7. Agent Orange – The Vietnam War defoliant. Contaminated with dioxin. Responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, birth defects, and lifelong suffering. Monsanto knew. 8. Petroleum-based fertilizers – Destroy soil life and create chemical dependence on a massive scale. 9. Roundup (glyphosate) – Their flagship herbicide. The most widely used weedkiller in history. Classified as a carcinogen. Found in water, soil, air, food and our bodies. 10. Aspartame – The artificial sweetener they controlled for years. Linked to a long list of neurological and metabolic diseases. 11. rBGH (bovine growth hormone) – Injected into dairy cows to force more milk. Raises IGF-1 levels linked to higher cancer risk and leaves antibiotic residues and pus in the milk supply. 12. GMOs – The foundation of their modern empire. Engineered crops designed to survive heavier doses of their own chemicals. This is the real “Dirty Dozen.” Not just pesticide residue on strawberries — an entire corporate legacy of toxins forced into our soil, water, food, and bodies for profit. They got rich. We got the cancer rates, the birth defects, the dead bees, the contaminated aquifers, and the lawsuits. Stop swallowing their “safe and effective” narrative. The body count is already too high.
