I’m sick of the worst people on the planet being the ones we glorify. This man was a true hero to the ones that survived. Aaron Dale Burkeen was a 37 year old crane operator for Transocean. Dale died on the Deepwater Horizon. He stayed at his crane instead of immediately leaving. After the first explosion Dale began lowering the roughly 150-foot boom into its cradle and locking it down so it would not swing freely and endanger crew members heading for the lifeboats.
