Gaming is cooked rn and it's not just Web3.
The whole industry is getting expensive af:
- Console prices keep going up
- RAM and storage costs are insane
- New games cost more
- You don't even own the games anymore
- Full priced games STILL have skins, battle passes, DLC, microtransactions
- Building a gaming PC? Good luck justifying that cost
Why? AI.
Memory manufacturers are all in on AI servers and data centers now. Consumer stuff like PCs and consoles? Lower priority.
Xbox literally said their memory and storage costs for 2027 could be 5× what they paid two years ago. Fiveee times bro.
And it's not just hardware.
When consoles and PCs get expensive, people don't upgrade. When games cost more, players stick to what they know. Fortnite, Roblox, GTA, Minecraft. Why risk money on new stuff?
Gaming isn't just having a quality problem.
It's an affordability problem.
