Hey! My first post-TGO project is finally live.
I interviewed a bunch of Mario Kart DS speedrunners about a sixth grader who has been sweeping their World Records over the last year. It's insane!
Would love if you gave it a watch. Much love ♥️

What does it take to get a World Record in the most prestigious speedrun of all time?

This is the story of @Benjiii_64's journey to the 70-star WR in Super Mario 64. A HUGE thanks to him for chatting with me, he had so many interesting things to say :)

Hey everyone! Check out this interview @TheMoistRock and I did with @Gaming_Observer about our Hi-Fi RUSH speedruns! As inspiring as this game is alone, I hope this can also help inspire those interested in it to start speedrunning too!

Hi-Fi Rush will inevitably be in contention for my GOTY, but the speedrun was not quite to my tastes.
So I interviewed the runners instead! It's super cool!

A HUGE thanks to @brewbi and @TheMoistRock for agreeing to chat with me for this video :)
One year ago today, I made the difficult decision to end my podcast, The Gaming Observer.
When I started the show in 2018, I never could have imagined where it was going to take me. Thousands of daily listeners, new friends, a full-time job which has treated me so extremely well
...I am very fortunate.
The show was cancelled because it was simply too much work. A daily news show took real commitment on top of my existing life obligations. I will admit that I've dreamed of bringing it back -- but it would require a lot of things to line up.
The latest episode of World Record Report is out now:

I'm having a lot of fun with this concept. I think this is the best one yet, and I'm having so much fun learning from these runners.
I'm pretty proud of the speedruns I've performed myself so far.
Kato and I are targeting 3rd place for WWHT but it requires a good bit of RNG. No chance at 1st. Not sure how much patience we'll have but fingers crossed.
I just released a video monologuing about the significant gap of viewership in speedrunning media.
It feels like speedrun content is either viral (Summoning Salt, GDQ, etc.) or has very little viewership. Where's the happy middle that other niches have?

One thing I've been loving about making YT videos for speedrunning is that it really just feels like a thing I'm passionate about instead of "the thing I need to do to grow"
I'm not leaving my FTE any time soon, so I can just make what I want regardless of algorithm, growth, etc
That was my biggest inhibitor with The Gaming Observer. It was a daily obligation that I needed to keep up in order to maintain growth / the potential for full-time income. It was CLOSE to happening. But that clawed at my psyche for years.
Doing YT just feels...fun.

Was featured in a youtube video series about WR runs along with @Vysetra by @Gaming_Observer for Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 100% Quest Log! 😁 It also features WR holders for Bastion and Blinx 2.

World Record Report is now officially a series! No specific release cadence, but you can check out episode 2 here:

ICYMI: I talked for about 12 minutes about how I got the speedrun world record for the only Daredevil game that was ever made on the GBA:

I'm really proud of the 6 videos I made last year. They were pretty much all "proof of concept" while I experimented with the idea of making videos in this niche.
Personal stuff came up that halted production...but I'm ready to jump back in with full force. Coming soon!
