Many important bacterial non-coding RNAs and structural elements remain undiscovered. To help, @_David_Li, @garykbrixi, @mfgrp, @BrianHie & team introduce Minerva, which uses a genome language model to predict RNA base pairing, repeats, & other interactions from sequence alone.

Excited to share Minerva, our approach using genome language models for biological discovery! Using Minerva, we find that UG27 reverse transcriptase systems encode variable arrays of diverse ncRNAs with a shared structure, each templating a short DNA hairpin. With @garykbrixi.
Congratulations to Pujuan on receiving the Katharine McCormick Advanced Postdoctoral Scholar Fellowship! This fellowship supports exceptional postdocs pursuing faculty careers who have demonstrated a track record of uplifting women in science. Excited to see what’s next for you!
Congratulations to Simone (@simone_alma), Collin, and Max (@maxewilkinson) on their paper - out today- on terminase sensing by Avs2 and Upx! (1/4)

We’re so excited to share our new paper, where we tackle the wealth of structural and functional diversity of anti-phage sensors across bacteria (1/6)

Immune recognition is far more universal than we thought! Our new paper uncovers ≥ 90 families of bacterial immune receptors that recognize conserved phage proteins. We also reveal how Avs7 recruits EF-Tu to assemble an immune complex.
Congrats to Hyunbin, Sofia, & others !!
