A Reform Member of the Welsh Parliament has spoken in defence of colonialism.
Joe Martin is the Member of the Senedd for Caerdydd Penarth.
These remarks were made inside the Senedd at a very tough time for the party.
It was just a day after Reform's leader in Wales Dan Thomas resigned after being arrested and bailed on suspicion of assault and coercive or controlling behaviour. Within hours another one of their members had defected to Plaid Cymru.

🇮🇪 🏴🏴I have sent my warm congratulations to the leaders of Plaid Cymru and the SNP on their momentous electoral successes today.
It is a landmark day for a future beyond the Union. Here in Ireland that future means ending partition and the reunification of our country.
I look forward to working with both Rhun ap Iorwerth and John Swinney in the spirit of friendship, solidarity and real progress for the people of our nations.

This is magnificent ! You won't hear a more passionate defence of Europe than this 👇where in 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑢𝑡𝑒, in his maiden speech at the EU Parliament new German MEP @LukasSieperMdEP takes on populists 💪🇪🇺
"You can poison the debate with lies, with fear, with hate - but we will never give up on Europe ! You can divide our people, nation against nation, neighbour against neighbour, but we will never give up on Europe ! There are more of us ! More who believe in freedom, more who believe in democracy, more who believe in Europe. No matter how loud you shout, we are more ! we are stronger ! and we are not going anywhere. Long live Europe !"
