Quick-help apps like Urban Company, Pronto, and Snabbit ensure that house help is just a few screen taps away. This is beginning to upset the ecosystem of support among domestic workers and long-term relationships built with employers. @Such_InkPen also finds the lack of a safety net for workers in Mumbai.

Some critical questions on MCD’s proposed fee of up to ₹ 300/mth⬇️
Where is the accountability for existing taxes, poor segregation, overflowing landfills/waste burning? Before charging citizens more, fix the system, ensure transparency & hold bulk waste generators accountable.

🗞️ Breaking News: Your Blood Knows If You Do Sudarshan Kriya taught in @ArtofLiving
New research by Prof. B. K. Thelma of the Department of Genetics, Delhi University South Campus, compared SKY practitioners with a non-practitioner control group and examined blood-based markers. The headline finding: those who do the SKY practice have much lower inflammatory markers.
@Gurudev Sri Sri calls the research thrilling, and describes the practice as his gift to the world. The professor's own takeaway: learn the practice.
Science catching up with what practitioners have felt for decades. Worth sending to anyone who thinks meditation is just sitting quietly. 🙏

Women aged 48 to 92 with good blood vitamin C levels were stronger than women with low levels, with a firmer grip for their height, faster walking and quicker rises from a chair.
Vitamin C helps build collagen and protects muscle from oxidative damage, and earlier work in the same English population pointed to a link with muscle. In more than 13,000 men and women aged 42 to 82 from the EPIC-Norfolk study, people with enough vitamin C in their blood carried a little more of their body weight as muscle than people with too little, a small edge in men and roughly twice that edge in women.
That study looked at muscle size. The same research group has now looked at how well people actually move. They analysed more than 5,000 adults aged 48 to 92 from EPIC-Norfolk, measured vitamin C in their blood, and grouped them as low, in between or good. They then tested grip strength, walking speed and how long it took to stand up from a chair five times in a row, taking lifestyle, health and diet into account.
1. Women with good vitamin C levels walked noticeably faster than women with low levels, covering about 22 extra feet for every minute of walking, which is roughly the length of a living room.
2. Women with good levels also got up and down from a chair five times about a full second quicker, and had a stronger grip for their height.
3. Men showed a smaller version of the same pattern, covering about 10 extra feet per minute of walking and finishing the five chair stands a little under a second quicker.
Taken together, the evidence points toward low vitamin C as a marker worth avoiding in later life. Blood levels showed a clearer link than food diaries did, especially in men, where diet records alone showed nothing. Fruit and vegetables remain the main way most people keep their levels up.
The study took one snapshot in time, so it cannot show whether low vitamin C came before slower movement or the other way around. People with good vitamin C levels may also have other healthy habits. It measured blood levels, not the effect of taking supplements, and the authors call for longer studies and trials.

If you're struggling with insomnia and poor sleep quality, it's vital to address the root cause.
Believe it or not, poor sleep is often a sign of a liver problem.
If you have a liver problem, you'll have massive blood sugar swings throughout the night. When insulin lowers excess blood sugar, adrenaline quickly mobilizes stored sugar, which wakes you up.
Insulin resistance is often the underlying cause of liver problems, but they can also be caused by consuming seed oils, sugar, and starch. A diet low in choline and sulfur, late-night snacking, and alcohol can also damage the liver.

ALT A Dr. Berg infographic titled "Simple Sleep Tips to Stop Waking Up at Night" lists six tips: 1. Stop eating 4 hours before bed. 2. Increase choline with foods like egg yolks, liver, grass-fed meat, salmon, and cruciferous vegetables. 3. Include sulfur-rich foods such as egg yolks, garlic, onion, and cruciferous vegetables. 4. Support gallbladder health with arugula, dandelion greens, bitter foods, and TUDCA. 5. Follow a low-carb diet. 6. Lower blood sugar with a low-carb diet, apple cider vinegar, vitamin B1, magnesium, potassium, and high-quality protein.

Construction and #demolition without compliance, especially in 🏠 residential areas, is nothing short of a #healthhazard.
Many of us have witnessed it and been directly impacted ..windows kept shut for months, even on good-air days; neighbourhood air filled with dust and emissions from heavy construction vehicles; fine demolition dust entering our kitchens and settling on clothes drying outdoors; days of dust allergies and difficulty breathing.
Then there’s soil and debris spilling onto roads, tiles and stones being cut alongside sariya on public roads right outside our homes, the unmistakable metallic smell, tractors transporting construction material or malba without adequate dust suppression, and debris being thrown down from higher floors. The list is endless.
All because basic safeguards are missing at demolition and redevelopment sites.
Here’s a simple infographic by @kameshp96 (HSPCB). Please share it with your RWAs, families, builders and contractors. A few basic compliances can make a real difference.
Dust containment means just that -#ContainTheDust ! Not flimsy nets, loose soil and sand spilling outside, or tin sheets with gaping holes. Even smaller sites must ensure #wheelwashing of #constructionvehicles to keep internal society roads free of dust and debris.
It’s a long haul, but awareness of what is mandated, and by whom, is a start. Development authorities must also ensure their enforcement teams monitor smaller sites that may not feature on dust-monitoring portals.
We are not a noise, but a voice of concern. We are asking for the basics ..a clean, healthy neighbourhood where our children can grow and our seniors can breathe easier.
Development must continue, but not at the cost of our health. 🌿

IITM’s @moesgoi new lab findings show vehicles contributed 25% of PM 2.5 on Oct 24, while secondary organic aerosols contributed 18.4%. These invisible particles form when gases react in the atmosphere.
As parents, we don’t just see smog, we see it through our children with their coughs & breathing disorders each day. We sure enough need real time data, & source wise accountability but more importantly enforcement on the ground. Knowing the pollution mix is the first step. Acting on it is the real test.
