He’s tied himself in knots over this, because of the pressure from Restore. He’s no genuine beliefs. He’s trying to Hold his polling up. And coming from someone that tried concealing a £5 million bung and whose ‘shadow chancellor’ is being investigated for receiving money from a foreign dodgy source, he’s truly hard faced. Voters by and large aren’t daft.
'Do you think it's racist' Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was questioned on #BBCBreakfast after his former senior aide Raheem Kassam called Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch as a 'Nigerian scammer' bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cp07jz…

Even just a freeze for the rest of the parliament would save billions. Obviously I’d personally go much, much further.
Tomorrow the Chancellor must address the welfare budget. Half a BILLION pounds a day on working-age welfare. The wrong incentives and the bill is growing. Labour cancelled our reforms which the OBR said would see 450,000 fewer people on health benefits. The Chancellor must act.

Starting salary for a nurse is a few grand extra. That means they’ll be back for more next year.
Britain’s new minimum wage: £27,456 a year. Higher-rate income tax kicks in at £50,270. Wage compression the Soviet Union could only have dreamed of.

Our supermarkets are very efficient, but there’s only so much they can keep costs down.
More worrying news on inflation and for interest rates... ☹️ BRC survey finds shop price inflation jumped to 2.1% year on year in October, from 1.4% in September. "The dam is starting to break on the huge wave of costs retailers have absorbed over the last two years." brc.org.uk/news-and-events/n…

Oh we’ve got an economics genius here that thinks increasing labour costs alone by over 50% (60% if we include increases to ER’s NI) in 6 years doesn’t result in price increases.

Any MP in a working class town in 2016 would’ve known this. Any MP for a working class town in 2026 would’ve known know that there’s an issue with unemployment in those towns. Andeh is just proving he’s dishonest and/or incapable of being trusted to speak in interviews.
There is nothing socialist about a system of free movement that is used by multi-nationals to undermine wages. WATCH my Brexit speech today.

But supermarkets will have to increase prices in everything to accommodate the new minimum wage.
Chancellor John Healey will remove import taxes on marmalade, gherkins and more than 100 products in a move to give families "breathing space" with the cost of living in the Budget. Other changes will impact motorists, carers and self-employed fathers

If you want to know why everything is costing more, it’s because minimum wage has increased by over 50% since 2020. That increase then feeds through to prices, which feeds through into higher payments for benefits and pensions.
🚨 NEW: John Healey will increase the minimum wage for over 21s from £12.71 to around £13.20

Mealymouthed Burnham said he was going to help pubs. Instead they’re increasing the minimum wage, business rates will still be higher than they were and now they’re taxing alcohol more. The man is a barefaced liar. telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

A reminder that Jenrick is still under investigation for accepting money from a dodgy foreign source.
‘Is calling Kemi Badenoch a “Nigerian scammer” racist, yes or no?’ ‘…I’m not on your show to talk about what a journalist has tweeted.’ Reform's Robert Jenrick refuses to engage with @Lewis_Goodall's question about Raheem Kassam's comments on the Tory leader.

The reason why we have Roma gypsies selling the big issue is because it’s considered ‘work’.

Oh dear, Kemi. I was really hoping you'd offer a more considered response. 🤦🏽‍♂️ You don't need me to explain to you that we had far more control over immigration under FOM than we do now. EU Freedom of Movement is NOT an unconditional right under EU law: it is conditional on finding a job or being self-sufficient i.e. not being a burden on taxpayers. Otherwise they have no right to stay. Illegal immigration: our ability to return the small boats people was removed after leaving the EU - see the a Dublin agreement. Boris Wave: mass inflows of legal intercontinental migration was necessary to avoid collapse of critical services like care and health and further economic damage. @KemiBadenoch you're a Conservative in 2026 - at least give @andyburnham the honour of the 'honest conversation' that he asks for.

This is yet another example of Burnham’s foot in mouth syndrome. He hasn’t thought this through or the implications. Most people who voted for Brexit did so because they didn’t want free movement. Too many politicians have failed to understand the significance and impact of immigration on communities. We have had more than enough experience of what happens when politicians (including previous Conservative governments) promise control but fail to deliver it. The answer is to learn from those mistakes, not reopen free movement.
🔺 EXCLUSIVE: Andy Burnham has opened the door to Britain readopting the European Union’s free movement rules, arguing that an “honest discussion” is needed, reports @benrileysmith

This is a distinct possibility. All the Right needs to do is remind voters that every single Labour MP backed Starmer & Reeves.
British Columbia a good data point for the “don’t call a snap election” arguments with clear parallels to UK dynamics. NDP call election with poll lead, when opponents on right are in turmoil. Conditions look ideal and yet voters don’t look kindly on it and Conservatives win big.

They’re toying with the idea of an exit tax. Those with money, and their accountants, will be well aware. They will piss off elsewhere very quickly.
HMRC has quietly sent hundreds of letters to wealthy people asking them to reveal what they own. Not what they earn or what tax they've paid, but what they own. Here's what's going on. A unit called the Wealthy Team covers anyone with "incomes of £200,000 or more, or assets equal to or above £2m in any of the last three years". That's about 850,000 people. The letters ask for a meeting to discuss "sources of wealth", "future intentions", trusts, companies, family arrangements and even "significant life events" you expect in the coming years. It is presented as voluntary, but there's a nudge: "We may still need to carry out compliance checks on your tax returns. However, speaking with you first may help avoid this." Until now, inspectors have usually only asked about income and earnings. Experts call this a "sea change". One lawyer asked the obvious question: "does HMRC have a right to know what someone owns and not simply that they have paid the right amount of tax?" A tax adviser said: "No other G20 country asks for this level of detail from its taxpayers about what they own." So what is it for? Advisers suspect it is groundwork for an exit tax, a charge on your wealth for leaving the country. As one put it: "Building that knowledge could indeed be part of moving towards an exit tax." You don't have to be a billionaire to see the problem.
