Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers reportedly had a text thread competing to pull over the most Black drivers, while using racial slurs in discussions about force against Black residents. More than half a dozen officers have reportedly been recommended for termination or quit.
A badge should NEVER be a license for discrimination! These allegations call into question traffic stops and use-of-force incidents involving these officers!

Curtis Flowers, a Black man from Mississippi who was wrongly convicted and endured SIX trials for the 1996 murders of four people, has sadly passed away at just 56 years old. Flowers spent 23 years behind bars, much of that time on death row, as his convictions were repeatedly overturned. In 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned his final conviction.
For nearly 7 years, Curtis was able to experience the freedom he had been denied for more than two decades. His story is a heartbreaking reminder of the human cost of injustice. Rest In Power, Curtis. cbsnews.com/news/curtis-flow…

Amen! I am deeply encouraged by the many students at the Atlanta University Center who took to the streets for Nolan Wells. The next generation is watching this case closely, and they refuse to stay silent. Say his name: Nolan Wells.

"In every country in which there has been a loss of freedom, where does it begin? It begins in news media, in public print, in books, and on the proscenium. That's where they attack you first right there. That's the bread basket." —Rod Serling

Obama: “Imagine if I had pulled Fox News’ credentials from the WH press corps. You’re laughing but this is what’s happening.
It’s unimaginable that the same parties that are silent right now would have tolerated a behavior like that from me.”

If you were young in 2001, or weren’t even born yet, it can be hard to imagine what 9/11 felt like. The shock of that beautiful, cloudless morning. The heartbreak of the families whose loved ones were taken with such swiftness and cruelty. The realization that the forces of malevolence and violence were closer, and the future less certain, than we knew.
But in the days that followed, we felt something else, too. Pride in the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, and the passengers who had stormed the cockpit. Admiration for the men and women who left behind lives of comfort to serve their country. A deep resolve that nothing would break the will of a truly United States of America.
Today Michelle and I are remembering those we lost that day, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars that followed. We pray for their families. And we hope Americans everywhere remember the true lesson of 9/11: that we can survive even our darkest days as long as we move forward as one nation and one people.

America is a constant work in progress. Every generation must take up the unfinished work of the last and carry it further—protecting what’s right, fixing what’s wrong, and making our union a little more perfect. 250 years later, that’s more important than ever.

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives for this country that we love. It is a debt we can never fully repay, but we must never stop trying. I’ll always be grateful to our fallen heroes and their families, whose sacrifice reminds us of what it means to live for something greater than ourselves.
