I have been brought up in a very religious Catholic family. And I don't remember seeing anyone going around with ashes on their foreheads. US Catholics almost look like a different religion.

Great point made here is how Spanish consider themselves white but most Spanish cities were founded by Arabs & Spanish people are often physically indistinguishable from Moroccans - a point that can also be made about Italy, which saw a great historical Arab presence in the south
For me, @CES_Europe ends with a very interesting panel of the history of Muslims in Europe- I'm learning in particular about Franco in Spain recruiting Moroccan soldiers and creating a problematic legacy & perception of Islam
