Anyone can type AA in their bio. Some of those answers are years old, some are wrong, some were copied from a sibling's result.
On @Genowide your genotype is verified from a lab result, and your profile carries a verified badge. genowide.com

Sickle cell is where @Genowide starts because it's our community. Thalassaemia works the same way, and it's common in India and Pakistan.
Same problem, same fix: know your result before you match.

AS + AS means a 1 in 4 chance of sickle cell in every pregnancy, not just the first. Roughly 250 babies are born with it in the UK every year.
I'd rather people see that on a profile than hear it at an antenatal appointment. @Genowide

AA people are saying their contribution to the society is marrying AS or SS so the next generation is SS free.
It only works if you know you're actually AA, with a lab result. That's what @Genowide checks before anyone gets matched.

The NHS has known your genotype since birth. Nothing connects it to who you date.
So two AS carriers meet, fall in love and only check later, with a 1 in 4 chance of sickle cell every pregnancy.
This is why we are building @Genowide genowide.com/#waitlist

Two parents with sickle cell trait (AS) have a 1 in 4 chance of a child with sickle cell disease in every pregnancy.
One child without it doesn't change the odds for the next.
Many people are unsure of their genotype, and have no proof. That's part of why we're building @Genowide
