Every week I go to a trivia night with a movie round (my only contribution) where the host names 3 movies and you have to name the actor in all 3.
How many would you get? No cheating!

Luka Doncic and Yaxel Lendeborg have been shit talking all game so this felt like a natural way to end the half

Ty Jerome waves to the Memphis crowd after nailing a logo 3. He's got 41 points and Grizzlies fans are fired up

Brace yourselves Magic fans. Here is Paolo Banchero passing up a middie after drawing a crowd to the ball, choosing instead to spray it to the perimeter setting up a wide open Tristan daSilva 3-pointer

Obviously it’s just one game. And I’m sure it’s easier to be unselfish when you have that game 1 excitement. But, at least for me personally, this was a level of 76ers’ whole approaching the sum of its parts I was uncertain they’d achieve. So hopefully VJ can buy into it as well.

Tyrese Maxey
Speaking of Maxey, the assumption going in was the 76ers would have to lean into his spacing/cutting, and those things were there…but it seems Embiid+Brown+Bron mutually agreed to sacrifice to elevate Maxey because he largely ran the show and helped dictate pace.

LeBron James
Switched onto KAT to keep Embiid near the rim and executed multiple coverages effectively. Still one of the biggest weapons in transition which fits well with Tyrese Maxey. Screened plenty for Maxey too.

Jaylen Brown
Revved up the on-ball defense. More willing passer. Spaced out and shot off the catch when the opportunity arose.

Joel Embiid
Maybe the best defensive game he’s played in years? He held up in p&r and on switches. He protected the rim+defensive glass. Offensively he was a willing screener and fired 3-pointers when open.
Geoff Rasmussen retweeted
Disappointing if true because my primary takeaway from game 1 was that Philadelphia showed sacrifice and synergy beyond what I thought was likely for the 76ers.
Each of their starters leaned into the more additive aspects of their skillsets, which was hugely encouraging.
🚨 Sources: VJ Edgecombe’s agent, Thad Foucher of Wasserman, reportedly wants to see a bigger role for the Sixers guard following the season opener against the Knicks.
After the rookie season VJ put together, his camp believes he’s capable of making an Anthony Edwards-type leap. 9 points in his season debut isn’t what he signed up for. The expectation is growth, not being treated as an afterthought in Philly’s offense.
The message is clear: VJ is ready for a bigger stage. 👀

Fitting first game of an NBA season that projects to be incredible. Super high quality esp for opening day. Detroit:
1) started with shooting lineups
2) pushed the pace
3) used Ausar as a screener
4) ramped up the defensive intensity
Hugely encouraging Pistons turnaround.
Geoff Rasmussen retweeted
Priority 1 for JB Bickerstaff and the Pistons needs to be figuring out an answer to Ausar Thompson being ghosted to this degree. In the long run it's just too big an uphill battle for his teammates to consistently play 4v5 like this
I did a deep dive on Orlando and oh boy were the offensive indicators the past few seasons discouraging. Sweeney doesn’t have to do much to improve the structure and principles for the Magic. The preseason was a strong start.

Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are entering year 5. They have 1 All-Star game and 0 playoff series wins.
But as they enter their prime years, Sean Sweeney is about to make them better together & raise Orlando’s ceiling.

Oftentimes pace and transition/fast break get conflated. The Pacers are a direct counter to that. And it’s a big part of why Tyrese Haliburton is so underrated. His fast+constant probing allows the Pacers to continuously hunt the best possible look on every half court possession.
Not sure who needs to hear this but WENDY’S (yes @Wendys) released a 6 track pop punk EP satirizing/paying homage to the early 2000’s with songs using Wendy’s as an allegory for life and love.
It’s…remarkable
Geoff Rasmussen retweeted
I knew Orlando wasn't optimized in 25/26, but @HotHandTheory really laid it out:
"They only hit the roll man on 5% of pick & rolls... Paolo & Franz fell outside the top 100 in screen assists... They were in the bottom 1/3 in potential assists, bottom 1/3 in secondary assists."
