I self-published my novel. That doesn’t mean it’s bad

Never mind The French Connection. My favourite Gene Hackman movie is the 1975 Arthur Penn film Night Moves. Not even mentioned in any of the obits

Currently available on Amazon, other booksellers to follow. Dieppe 1897. Introducing art-loving detective Emile Blanchet. In town this summer are Oscar Wilde, Walter Sickert, Edgar Degas, and a double murderer...
Very pleased to announce the publication of my new book, a historical crime novel set in 1890s France (Dieppe to be precise). The cast includes Impressionist painters, Decadent poets, English ex-pats and, of course, a killer (or two).

Interesting comments by James Daunt (MD of Waterstones) in The Bookseller, about the danger of ignoring readers over 50 (who buy 34% of fiction). Says need to ensure 'we have the discipline as booksellers not to follow publishing tends at the expense of books for older readers'.

I have to say that I am struggling with this notion of a super-majority.
I was brought up to believe that a 52:48 ratio gives the winning side free rein.
