Florida's DMV database was breached using one Plant City police user's login, stored on a personal device. Your business has the same risk. Where do your team's work passwords live?

An independent insurance agency took nine months to learn what attackers stole. Florida agencies: could you answer "what was taken?" inside the 30 days state law generally allows?

Over 1,200 Citrix NetScaler devices were patched and still backdoored. Updating closes the hole. It doesn't evict whoever got in first. After a critical flaw, check for compromise too.

Cyber insurance applications aren't asking "do you have antivirus" anymore. MFA, EDR, tested backups, documented training. If you can't prove it, expect higher premiums or declined coverage.

Quick compliance check: does your agency have a Written Information Security Program? Florida Rule 69O-128.032 requires it. Many agencies we talk to don't have one.

One phishing click. Attacker sits quiet in the inbox for weeks. Then inserts fake payment instructions into a real client conversation. Client trusts it because it looks like your agency. That's not just a cyber problem, that's an E&O claim.

The ransom demand isn't the expensive part. The 2-3 weeks of downtime rebuilding your systems after is. If your agency doesn't have a tested recovery plan, you're not backed up, you're just hoping.

Your employees' passwords might already be sitting on a dark web marketplace right now. Reused login from some other breach, forgotten account, doesn't matter how it got there. You won't know until someone monitors for it.

Anyone who has been following me over the years knows one of my favorite quotes is “Just Don’t Think it…INK IT!”
When I’m home, either in Atlanta or down at Page‘s Retreat in Panama City Beach, this is my daily routine. It could start at 7 o’clock or 8 o’clock very rarely it starts at 9 o’clock. If I started at seven, I will get all of these goals below in. Today is one of those days and I will also end up training @GenuineLexLuger and @brocksteiner.
If I started at eight, it’s kind of questionable if I’ll get it all in or not. If I started at nine, I’ll get most of it. You don’t have to hit every goal you set, especially if you set as many as I do. But you wanna come close and you wanna write it down. Why? Because it’s gonna help build your confidence! It’s going to make you unstoppable!
A kid on social media asked Tom Brady what the key to his success was. Tom said, I believe that anybody can pretty much be successful at just about anything if they put their mind to it. Because to be successful, you don’t have to be special. You just have to be willing to do what most people won’t: Be Committed, be Consistent and be Disciplined. Believe it or not, discipline really is the truest form of self-love. Ignoring the current pleasure for the bigger reward to come!
Have a great day and kick ass!

A real SLA has numbers in it. Response time by severity. Resolution time targets. What happens if they miss it. If your IT contract just says "prompt support," that's not an SLA, that's a hope.

EOL software doesn't announce itself. One day it just stops getting security patches. Nothing looks different. That's the problem. If you don't know what's running end of life on your network right now, that's worth 10 minutes this week.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Most businesses let it pass without changing anything. The ones who get value out of it treat it as an annual checkpoint, not just a hashtag. We'll be sharing practical tips Tampa Bay businesses can use over the next few weeks.

What does one hour of complete downtime actually cost your business? Lost billable time, idle staff, missed calls, and the disruption of everyone stopping at once. Most small businesses have never run the actual numbers, and it's usually higher than they'd guess.

"We have a firewall" is not a PII protection strategy for an insurance agency. Client SSNs, health details, and financial records need encryption, access controls, and a real incident response plan, not just hardware. Rule 69O-128.032 expects more, and so should you.

"It's been running fine for years, we haven't touched it." That sentence should worry every small business owner. Unpatched software is one of the easiest ways into a network, since the vulnerabilities are already public. Patch management closes the door before someone finds it.

Not every phishing email is an obvious scam anymore. The ones catching small businesses today are personalized and specific. New video breaks down the 3 signs an email is actually targeting your business, not just a random mass blast. Link below.
