so much fishy about this -Trump winning the popular vote after losing it twice - Record turnout but millions of votes missing - swing states going blue down the ballot except for his nomination - voting machines being hooked up to star link
AP reports that Trump has won all seven swing states. (Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania)

You know when you cheat on a test you gotta get some answers wrong or else it looks suspicious? Right.
Donald Trump will win Arizona, CNN projects. It completes his sweep of battleground states and brings his final electoral vote tally to 312. cnn.it/3O3w44G

This is Kabosu. She's the shiba inu whose face became the internationally recognized Doge meme after a photoshoot went viral in 2010. Kabosu passed peacefully today, May 24, at 18, after a long battle with liver disease and leukemia. Kabosu (which means Pumpkin in Japanese, so named for her round face), was rescued from a puppy mill shutdown and adopted from a shelter in 2008. She lived in Sakura, Japan, with her humans and three feline siblings. Her mom, a kindergarten teacher, first posted the picture of Kabosu with the wide eyes and daintily crossed paws in February 2010. The pup's pic made the rounds on Reddit and Tumblr, before the meme-ified version with colorful "Doge speak" captions began taking over. (such fame, wow.) Kabosu eventually became the face of the cryptocurrency Dogecoin in 2013, which, while created as a joke, reached an $88.8 billion market cap at its peak in May 2021. On Nov. 2, 2023, meme legends celebrated the inaugural Doge Day and unveiled a statue commemorating her. Many in the Doge movement use DOGE as an acronym for "Do Only Good Everyday." "I think Kabo-chan was the happiest dog in the world," her human wrote in a farewell post on the blog she maintained for Kabosu and her adventures. "And I was the happiest owner." A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, May 26, from 1-4pm at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori, in Narita City. For her lasting legacy on internet culture, the legend Kabosu receives our highest honor, a 15/10

I feed 80 street dogs every day but the last stop is my favorite because I get to see little Angelina Jolie. She’s a very very old girl who has lived on the streets her whole life but she is very special (1/6) 🧵

Please read if you want to understand the stakes right now in Ukraine. The attack on the country's civilian infrastructure right now, this week, is the worst since the war began
🧵1/23 This is a long thread, but I want this to serve as a clear & informative reminder of exactly what russia is doing and how it is creating a huge risk for all of us to suffer the same dire consequences, if we fail to collectively take immediate actions in supporting Ukraine.

"There is a Japanese legend who talks about a method to find cats that have left the house and never come back. The technique is to talk to the street cats in the neighborhood as if you would talk to anyone and ask them about your cat, describe it and it is, their hair tone, even tell th what it's called, ask them to help you find it, tell him how much you love him and how much you want him to come home. They will communicate with each other to help your cat return home" via Malin Chinthaka #Caturday #Japan #Folklore

You know what the biggest problem with pushing all-things-AI is? Wrong direction. I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.

Dionne Warwick, upset with misogyny in rap lyrics, once set up a meeting with Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight at her home, where she demanded that they call her a “bitch” to her face. Snoop Dogg later said, “I believe we got out-gangstered that day.”

Hi. Historian here. Crafting fake sources is not actually liberating for anyone. All it does is cause further doubt and confusion in fields that are already frequently struggling. You are not helping. You are hurting.
These images, skillfully crafted by Cepéda Brunson using AI, highlight the liberating potential of artificial intelligence in addressing the scarcity of affirming images of black people in historical archives. While African Americans played a pivotal role in shaping the Old West, photographic evidence documenting this contribution is notably lacking. Conversely, AI allows creators to craft new narratives and visualize histories that might not have ever happened. That's not inherently unethical; the rich genre of historical fiction has always mixed fictional plots with actual historic events. However, as AI-generated images become increasingly photo-realistic, distinguishing between genuine archival photographs and computer-generated ones can be challenging. Are most members of the general public visually adept enough to differentiate between AI-generated and authentic images?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Historians use primary and secondary sources in order to flesh out their claims and provide evidence for their thesis. These sources need to be peer reviewed as to prevent the spread of misinfo. AI doesn't use accurate sources when generating responses. hwpi.harvard.edu/files/hwp/file…

The racism behind chatGPT that we aren't talking about... This year, I learned that students use chatGPT because they believe it helps them sound more respectable. And I learned that it absolutely does not work. A thread. 🧵
