A hotelier could face up to 14 years for evading Labour’s tourist tax. A pensioner’s killer, sentenced yesterday, could be out in under four years. The wrong priorities, at every level.

Inspector: "I'll be straight with you, there's been a complaint." Farmer: "There usually is. What have I done?" Inspector: "Your cattle were seen standing in a field in the rain." Farmer: "Yes. They do that. They're outside." Inspector: "The complainant felt they looked wet." Farmer: "They're waterproof. It's the one thing the manufacturer got right." Inspector: "I've walked the lot. Water's clean, feet are sound, calves are on their mothers, condition's good. I've nothing to write." Farmer: "Write that, then." Inspector: "There's no box for it. The form assumes I've found something." Farmer: "Put me down as pending." Inspector: "There's a second complaint. Someone filmed you from the lane shouting at a cow." Farmer: "That was Mabel. She was stood on my foot." Inspector: "And the footage of the shed?" Farmer: "I've one shed and it's behind you. That film was shot in Yorkshire. The group puts its logo over a farm gate and the public fills in the rest." Inspector: "You've seen the Arla business this week." Farmer: "I've seen what comes after it. The farm gets suspended, the lorry stops coming, and by Friday the milk's arriving from somewhere that would fail every question you've just asked me and never get asked." Inspector: "I'll put it down as no action." Farmer: "You'll be back." Inspector: "I'll be back. Somebody will see them standing in the sun."

Call me old-fashioned, but I still think kids should say “please” and “thank you.”

Birmingham hasn't had a recycling collection in 19 months. Last night its councillors still found time to cheer a vote on Israel. Bins are a council's job. Foreign policy isn't.

A giant poppy made from bales, built in a field at Crask Farm just outside Culbokie on the Black Isle in Scotland by farmer Myles Dillon, in tribute to everyone who has served in the armed forces. Looks lovely x

Is this Ramallah? Gaza City? No, it's Birmingham. Where bins go uncollected, more than a quarter of the adult population is economically inactive, and the benefits bill is higher than anywhere else in the country. I will never tire in fighting this disgusting sectarianism.

Not heirs to the throne. Not princes. This is simply a father and son at a football match, close to each other. The teen son completely comfortable and secure enough to rest his head on his papa’s shoulder. A beautiful moment that says so much about William as a father.

Tories had 1st & 2nd Muslim cabinet ministers, along with 1st & 2nd ethnic minority leaders & PMs in Disraeli & Sunak. Now they have the first black woman leader who could be to their 4th female PM. This idea only the progressive left creates opportunity for every Briton is demonstrably bunkum.
Humza Yousaf, author of Under Fire, an important and painfully honest testament, could never have flourished in Keir Starmer’s Labour Party, still less the Conservatives. As a proud Muslim and supporter of the Palestinian cause, that would have been out of the question. In the Scottish National Party, which embraced multiculturalism as its southern counterparts drifted towards coercive liberalism, he rose to the top. @OborneTweets: Humza Yousaf's private war newstatesman.com/culture/boo…

Minorities who break the law could be treated more leniently under the CPS “race bias” plans. This ideological change will bring yet more two-tier justice. Charging decisions must be based on evidence, not skin colour. We will get rid of all this dangerous nonsense.

🤦‍♀️. No journos invited on the trip. Government transport being treated like a private plane, stopover costing thousands. Two people posing at the top of the passenger steps waving to their audience. Not a care in the world.
The government’s grandest plane, an A321 jet, took off from Stansted at 6.05 a.m. this morning. Burnham wasn't on it. It flew 34 minutes to Manchester to collect the PM, then set off for the Commonwealth summit in Antigua. Guido estimates the detour cost around £20,000 of taxpayer cash. Avanti not good enough for him? Flight tracking data shows the jet landed in Manchester at 6.39 a.m. and left again at 8.06 a.m., heading for a refuelling stop in Newfoundland before the Caribbean. The government eventually publishes what every trip on the plane costs. Starmer’s same-day trip to Paris on in April came to £39,756 at roughly £20,000 a leg. Stansted to Manchester is shorter than Paris, but every additional leg brings its own landing and handling fees. About £18,000-20,000’s worth according to Guido’s fag packet maths… The whole jaunt, there and back, comes to about 21 hours of flying. Based on Starmer’s £121,239 trip to Yerevan in May and Yvette Cooper’s £148,700 trip to Washington in December, long-haul flying on the plane costs between £9,500 and £12,400 an hour. That puts Burnham's full trip at about £250,000. Burnham took the same government jet from Glasgow to Manchester in July to open No10 North, despite a choice of trains. When Liz Truss used the same plane to fly to Australia, @AngelaRayner called it a “ridiculous waste of half a million pounds on a private jet trip”. Thoughts on this one, Ange?

Bizarre response from Rayner where she asks for Lam to send evidence, then realises she already did, then realises she forgot to respond, but doesn't bother to clarify the situation from the dispatch box.
Repugnant scenes as Angela Rayner gets busted by Katie Lam MP over her filthy misuse of funds, knowing she is guilty as fuck, Rayner plays dumb and sits down quickly.
