Students test boundaries because they are trying to learn something about the environment around them.
Does the limit hold every time? Does it change depending on the adult, the mood, or how hard they push? Is there room to negotiate, or is the expectation actually firm?
That does not mean every boundary has to be rigid.
Some limits should allow flexibility. Others need to stay consistent because they protect safety, learning, or the rights of everyone else in the room.
The important part is that students should not have to guess which is which.
When adults respond inconsistently, students often keep testing because the boundary still has not become predictable.

A mother’s decision to breastfeed should be met with encouragement—not barriers.
When families, workplaces and communities support breastfeeding, everyone benefits.

Teachers are the no.1 in-school factor for children's learning. Yet Africa needs 17 million more by 2030.
Where countries invest in teachers, children learn. As Ministers gather for #FLEX2026, we’re asking for investment in teachers, to invest in children’s futures.

When children are invisible in data, they risk being invisible in policies, programmes and services.
Quality statistics help show who is being left behind, what barriers they face, and where action is needed most.
