If AI can build software on demand, what happens to applications—and the businesses behind them?
I think the answer is more interesting than “apps disappear.”
Here’s the future I imagine.

With news that Omarchy is partnering with Alibaba to produce "Omarchy China" (which will bundle WeChat and other China-specific services), I reached out to Omarchy lead, @DHH, with some questions.
Here are his answers. In full, and in context, without commentary. (Each question is separated into it's own part of the thread to make it easier.)

"What is hoped to be gained [with Omarchy China]?"
DHH:
"China is an enormous country, with tens of millions of developers, and having their help improving open source is a huge boon to the entire world. It's also the center of the world for open-weight models.
The Chinese understand the value of open source even better than the West.
Because they've seen exactly what it means to be cut off from commercial suppliers.
Europe in particular could learn a lot.
But ultimately, this is about improving Linux for everyone. Most of these companies are part of the Linux Foundation as well. And many are prolific open source contributors."

This is so true! But trying what is the best in space, and I will tweak it first is still valuable tho. You don’t know how much the world already offers, and when you realize that this does not work even borrowing from the best, then you know you are onto something.
I love this idea from @dhh:
All the best ideas that actually turn out to have an impact sound stupid at first.
“You've got to have a high tolerance for people telling you:
-What you're building is stupid.
-What you're building is ugly.
-What you're building is never going to work.
When I get that feedback, I know I'm onto something.
I’ve found that’s often true about products. You enter some domain and you think:
"Who's the best? Can I just copy them?I'll do a slight tweak."
That's not gonna work.
All the best ideas that actually turn out to have an impact sound stupid at first.
They're not intuitive.
That's where all the value has been locked up. It's locked up in this misconception about what people actually want, because most people don't know what they want.”
Such a legend @dhh! He is like “yo, here, I will double it, and make your day even better!”
The current style of agents feels off (muse, dot, bot, etc.) messaging between agents cost too much and not much get done. Sure, if you are an employee and have unlimited token, it unblocks you as the limitation, but the gain is marginal and cost efficiency scales like crazy.
