Last week, Kenya announced an increase in PAYE exception from 30,000 Kshs to 32,333 Kshs.
At the current forex rate of 33, that means people earning the equivalent of 1,066,989 UGX in Kenya will NOT 'PAYE'.
In Uganda, PAYE exception stands at 335,000/= - almost THRICE AS MUCH as Kenya!
It's been an interesting weekend.
Former government spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo went off on the regime's recent human rights record on #TheCapitalGang yesterday. You could feel the passion, anger & disenchantment of an elder in his voice.
Then a PLU lady says she returned barefoot from Mbale "City" bse she found some youth there who can't afford shoes on their own after 40-years of NRM & surely needed her shoes more than she did. Still in Mbale, Bebe Cool refused to be interviewed by a journalist who didn't have "proper shoes". All this is important bse PLU say they want to champion "Museveni's Thoughts" - the "thought" which has left so many Ugandans without shoes, that is.
Meanwhile, the PPST, @rggoobi who told Ugandans his economy would "whack" (some people say they heard "work") went on radio wearing a designer "New York" cap to tell Ugandans to live like the poverty the regime dug them into and stop eating spaghetti & fried food. He didn't ask the same austerity of his bloated regime that has 529 MPs, 83 cabinet Ministers, 250 presidential advisors, organises state funerals worth billions every few weeks, & goes around ditching cars to bishops, traditional leaders & other people that otherwise could afford to buy their own cars. All this while Karamoja people starve to their death!
Then Museveni and Kamuntu seemed not to like any form of contact with poor lady from Sheema. They sat close to her, saw her, gave her an envelop with what seems like like, but didn't want to shake her dirty hand in the case of Museveni, or hug her in the case of Kamuntu. Did they think she was carrying a disease? Was it that they thought her visible poverty would contaminate them?
Anyway, interesting weekend - but we are Ugandans, hope the week will be better than the weekend! ✌️

✍🏿Public Statement: Update on the Investigation Involving a Traveller To Nigeria and ADDITIONAL Public Health Measures.
Haiti is so crazy, they’ve had 43 presidents, only FIVE served their full term of office without being assassinated or overthrown. Insane!
Someone said the dollar has taken the Ugandan shilling to “the basement”! 😂

In 2000, the Court of Appeal Judges ruled against the govt position in a referendum decision, Museveni replied that judges should be handling issues of chicken & goat theft cases, not determining the country’s destiny.
The ruling is now used as an example of executive interference with the judiciary around the world. I wonder what will be said about Museveni, but most especially the judiciary in Uganda, when books are written about this subject in the years to come given that things have gone from bad to worse since then… 🤞🏾
But, is our First Female Bishop praying kweli? Oba she also gave up like the rest of us? Ever since she became Bishop, things have been tough man; the dollar has our Ka-shilling in a chokehold, UEDCL serves air, & Nigerians are blaming us for Ebola…

The dollar is now clocking 4500ugx, all this because we let one person run a country like his personal phone. The country is falling 🙂↔️
Ibrahim Traoré and his narrative of transformation in Burkina Faso is the best-sold lie in Africa for decades! While we are told he has transformed his country & is getting ready to unite Africa, he does not even control more than 50 per cent of Burkina Faso itself according to some estimates!
However, he is not the first to play this game. Idi Amin played this game so well, that no matter how much Traoré tries, even with AI at his disposal, he won't beat Amin at his game - the bar is that high!
Generali Ulimwengu once told me of an experience he witnessed in circa 1975 where a group of students at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria wanted to beat up a Ugandan for the crime of saying that Idi Amin was a dictator who abducted, tortured, & killed thousands, at a Pan-African symposium. By 1975, Amin’s crimes were pronounced & well-documented. However, the Pan-Africanists of the time were high on their lie that Amin was a transformative, God-sent leader to liberate Africa. It wasn't just Pan-Africanists in Africa, tens of them, & Members of the Nation of Islam flocked Kampala from the US to pay homage to Amin like a Prophet of sorts! The Ugandan who survived lynching at the Univeristy of Ibadan turned out to be Dan Nabudere - he’d run to exile from Uganda’s Amin, so he knew!
For many Pan-Africanists in the ‘70s, an African leader who stood up to the white race, threatened to bomb Pretoria to end apartheid, & talked about a global battle against capitalism was the liberator they’d be waiting for! So, Amin was HIM: the African Messiah! While he talked of liberating black South Africans in South Africa, Namibia and Rhodesia, his jails and torture chambers in Uganda were filled with black Africans being tortured to death every day, for years!
It's not even about Traoré or Amin: it is about the desperation for a saviour in Africa. Our leaders - all of them - have failed so much that millions of us are looking around for a saviour at every time. If we can't find one, we create him. So we created Troaré.
Isn't it strange how, for all the transformation we are told Burkina Faso has achieved in a few years, we don't get real stories from Burkina Faso of the transformation by Burkinabè? It is always Kenyan, Nigerian, South African, Ugandan, Ghanaian Pan-Africanists reporting from their countries or on guided tours of Ouagadougou!
I hope that someday we’ll get courageous leaders who’ll stand up to the oppressive tendencies of Washington, London, Paris, Beijing, Moscow and others. I hope that those leaders will truly put their African populations first. Clearly, Ibrahim Traoré isn't that leader. He is likely working for the some oppressive forces, actually, or running an oppressive machine himself.

372 Burkinabè avaient choisi de retourner au Burkina Faso pour poursuivre leurs études.

He also said he loves Beyoncé & Ayra Starr, & that he is a direct descendant of Jesus Christ, Alexander the Great, & the fictional Bachwezi. There's something else he said; that he is a struggle for… well, lemme not say.
If you’re going to report what he says, good luck!✌️🏾
Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has said millions of Ugandans, especially the youth, are supporting his Patriotic League of Uganda’s (PLU) quiet and patient revolution.

We need a neutral party, not the Nigerian government, which is known for lying, not the Ugandan regime that lies even where it should, & and not the BBC to tell us about the case of the Ebola patient.
Did she just pass through Uganda from the DRC? Did she vacation in Uganda? Is she a Ugandan married to a Nigerian diplomat indeed?
There are a lot of contradictions in whatever each of these three is saying, so it’s hard to know who to believe. The African CDC & W.H.O should come to the rescue.
In a few minutes, we'll host @kiizaeron on #AgoraDiscourse to discuss his most recent paper, "A Country that Hides Its Citizens: Enforced Disappearance in Uganda and the Judiciary's Failure to Compel the State to Act."

I am really glad that despite our political differences, this one time memebers of @NUP_Ug and @NRMOnline agree with civil society that abduction is wrong and should end! I also agree with them that the officers that participated in this must be held accountable! This is just not a conversation pushed on the floor of parliament by @JoelSsenyonyi and opposition.
The photo attached is of the police officer that introduced himself as part of CMI. @OfwonoOpondo here is the man if you really want him to be held accountable.
Uganda belongs to all Ugandans!

Older Persons Representative (Eastern) Ofwono Opondo, an NRM MP, asked whether it is now “the new law of the NRM” to lure a suspect to a police station for the military to arrest. He was citing activist Praise @AloikinOpoloje account that people who said they were from CMI took her and beat her in a van.
He asked Parliament to demand an explanation from the Minister of Defence, the Attorney General and the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Watch here:
Well done, Ladit @OfwonoOpondo! It's the sort of strange realities we live with in Uganda now: there FIVE youth MPs in the house, including a National Female Youth MP, but it is the MP for elderly person who had the courage to speak up against the abduction of 27-year-old @AloikinOpoloje.
I wonder if the MPs for the youth even saw a problem here, or were embarrassed at all. Also wonder if any of the "youthful" MPs wondered why they didn't speak for the last three weeks, but left this to O.O...

Lukwago was rushed to Mulago in a dire state on Monday. Meanwhile, Museveni's Son tweeted this last night: "I'm not bothered about Lukwago's illness. He looks healthy enough to be hanged."
African leaders get away with dehumanising Africans in barbaric ways, man! These guys wouldn't keep slaves: they'd torture each of them to death for pleasure!
Meanwhile, the magistrate in Lukwago's case continues to deny him bail. She asked for a report from Mulago about his health claims. Seven specialists - the best in the land - examined Lukwago and issued a dire report that he needs urgent medical treatment abroad, where he was getting it until his arrest in June this year.
Armed with the report, the magistrate decided she needs another report from Uganda Prisons that they - the prison's hospital, that is - can't handle Lukwago's condition as a prerequisite for giving him bail. The prisons said they can handle the sicknesses that Specialists from the National Referral Hospital said they cannot handle! Recently, Lukwago was rushed out of prisons to receive treatment at a private facility in Lubowa, it failed and he is now at Mulago!
The last time a pingpong like this, with prisons insisting they could treat someone as specialists called for bail and immediate advanced treatment played out was in 2007. In that particularly case, the Ugandan involved, Joseph Musasizi Kifefe, young brother to Dr Kizza Besigye, died in the end. The autopsy report, like all autopsy reports, didn't capture the bid of him being denied bail until he was too sick to be saved; it simply said Musasizi, known as Saasi, died of "Kidney failure"!
Guys, what is this thing we, "the God-fearing country", are building for ourselves? When this building is done, what do we want to see, exactly?!

Another Al Jazeera undercover investigation exposes Mnangagwa’s regime!
This time around, the “Pan-Africanist”ZANU-PF regime paid violent white nationalists & a neo-Nazi to mobilise people who posed as protestors calling upon the UK to lift sanctions on Zimbabwe, and say good things about the regime. Same characters from The Gold Mafia: ED Mnangagwa, & Ubert Angel!
The scene ends with some questions over payment, & one of the white nationalists saying “Fucking Africans”. Such shame that people who accuse Africans of working for foreign interests pay people that actually HATE Africans for their selfish reasons! 🙌🏾
