You can study someone's personality, learn their buying preferences, and tailor your entire presentation to how they make decisions.
And they can still say NO.
Which is why learning how to sell and learning how to handle rejection are two very different skills. Both are important.

Love this! 👇
I applied to forty two jobs the year I got laid off and kept every rejection in a folder.
Last month a kid I mentor got his first no. I read him a few of mine and he laughed so hard he forgot to be sad.

Jumping out of an airplane probably won’t make you any better at picking up the phone.
Neither will walking across hot coals, climbing a mountain or doing some other terrifying thing designed to prove how courageous you are.
I've walked over the coals, too.
To be fair, you may come away thinking, Wow. I can do a hard/crazy/scary thing I didn't think I could.
There is value in that.
But courage is more specific.
We build confidence and reduce fear through experience in the actual situation we're trying to get better at.
So, if you want more courage around rejection, practice rejection.
You can turn a no into a yes when you make a new offer and try again 👇👇
Great piece of “The Prestige” lore is that Nolan says the only person to ever turn him down for an acting role was David Bowie (his idol).
Nolan begged for a meeting and finally convinced Bowie by rewriting the scene when he shows up as Nikola Tesla:
“The only ‘no’ I would cop to is David Bowie for ‘The Prestige.’ He was my great idol and everything, and I thought he'd be perfect to play Nikola Tesla.
We sent him the script and everything. He said ‘no’.
It was first time really ever, I went back and said, ‘Can I just go and meet him? Can I try and convince him in the room?’
They agreed, and I hastily wrote him a better speech for his first appearance, turned up with a new script, and…basically begged and got him to do it. So I turned the ‘no’ into a ‘yes.’”
What could happen if you started going for no to get to yes?

Man, I love @rayhigdon - This is what emotional regulation looks like. It takes work, but it's doable. Powerful! 👇👇
Sales mindset tip: your prospect should never be able to tell what kind of day you're having. 😄
The yes doesn't make me. The no doesn't break me. I show up as the same guy on the record month and the slow one, and that steadiness is what people end up buying from.
Send this to someone in sales who needs it today. 🙏

One of the ways you give yourself the NO:
They probably won’t be interested.
Maybe. But let them decide that.
So, ask.
At the Scaling.com conference and it’s mind blowing. If you have a business you want to grow and haven’t read The Science of Scaling, run don’t walk. Read it.
At the point you become willing to hear a bigger NO, you become capable of pursuing a much bigger YES.

At our first Challenge meeting I ask people why they joined. Surprisingly, most people who join my Go for No Challenge just finally couldn't take their own bs anymore. They just called themselves out and said, I need someone to make me do this.
Maybe you? If you're ready to start making the asks you need to make, join me. GoforNoChallenge.com
