Without a simple and transparent process, financial aid applications add another barrier to education rather than removing one.
This is the problem we're focused on solving at Going Merry in our op-ed for the @NewYorkTimesUSA
The average high school student shares a college counselor with 430 other students. It's no surprise that 40 percent fail to complete a federal financial aid form, much less search for scholarships, writes Charlie Maynard. nyti.ms/2ZD4gKT

#TeamNavient was honored to host Congressman @BurgessOwens during his visit with our @MeetEarnest and @GoingMerryInc teams in Salt Lake City. It was a pleasure discussing how we connect students to scholarships and support their success.
We agree @HeidiRoizen :) We remember receiving Jacob's application with ideas on how to simplify financial aid and being like 'woah - we have to get this person'... And he's lived up to it every day with his work to help students across the US.
Jacob Choi wears many hats at Going Merry, trying to solve the huge challenge of matching students with financial aid. He's an inspiration -- and an alum of the Threshold Venture Fellows program. @thresholdvc link.medium.com/OjEByAnuGbb

The surveys are rife with bias, and colleges are facing more pressure to change them. And maybe even eliminate them entirely. chroni.cl/2AUfIWC
