Personal Intelligence is now rolling out for Gemini on Android Auto and in the coming months to cars with Google built-in, so you can get even better hands-free help on the road. With your permission, Personal Intelligence securely connects information from the Google apps you already use — like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Search — so you can make complex requests, get personalized recommendations, retrieve details from past conversations and more.

Playing Netflix instead will be less distracting than what you have there.

I know that if it answers the question 'Who did he f*ck in this car yesterday?' it will be a disaster, but still, when I say 'We will go to the place I went yesterday again, where did we go?', it shouldn't say 'I don't remember' in my opinion."

Love the giver on the screen haha

Google reads your mail and calendar, now it reads them in your car too.

Cool for new cars but it makes me appreciate the retrofit scene even more. Half the cars on the road will never see this update. A ten year old daily with a good aftermarket head unit is still the smartest cheap upgrade.

And we'll have proper context carried over between voice chats in Android auto too?

Excited for this rollout! Drivers can now connect @googlemaps alongside other Google apps for seamless, personalized help. Truly helpful while on the road.

When we press the assistant wake button on the phone or say "OK Google," why does the Gemini on the phone wake up instead of the Gemini on the Android Auto screen?

the giver on the dash while google reads your calendar is the most 2025 flex ive seen all week

With your permission, really???

What about Personal Intelligence in the UK?

Gemini as a voice assistant is the worst thing that ever happened to the Android phones and is about to become the worst thing that ever happened to Android Auto.
126
Context from your own apps, hands-free, is where assistants start feeling useful. Curious how opt-in works per app.

It's off until you turn it on, and you choose which apps it can read, like Gmail, Calendar, Photos or Maps. ZDNET's example sold me: asking which gate your flight leaves from and whether it's delayed while you're still driving to the airport.
72
Hands-free help that actually knows your schedule and preferences is a great fit for the car. Smart to build it around user permission from the start.
26
Bring back the built-in phone dial that was in Google Maps!!
72
The useful version of this: “When’s my next meeting and will I make it?” answered from your calendar plus live traffic.

Step one .Get a car with Google built in. 😂
154
Off until you switch it on is the right default. The real test is what Gemini says when your Gmail, Calendar and Maps disagree about where you're headed.
150
it can pull from your calendar and your inbox, but the conversation you just had in the car doesn't stick. the memory half shipped, the continuity half is still a roadmap item
254
Can “not now” pause an answer and bring it back after the junction, without making you repeat the question?
265
“Take me to that place we discussed” is a wonderfully human request. Until now, the car has insisted on a rather more formal relationship.

I just want Android Auto to actually start up automatically in my car without me tapping the icon on the car screen more than half the time.
249
Will this restore they ability to navigate to a contacts address?!
101
i'd require fresh permission each trip before gemini reads personal messages aloud, passengers change privacy expectations
25
Now the car will know you're late before you do.

personal intelligence in the car is great until opus 5.5 reminds us it took 8 hours to figure out seatbelts exist xitter.cf/thehypedotnews/status/…
how many tries does it take opus 5.5 to save a crash-test driver? we gave it a deadly car: an open buggy, no belt, no airbag. at 56 km/h into a wall the dummy flies out. 29 broken bones. opus adds parts, crashes the car, reads the injuries and tries again everything here was built by opus 5.5: the car, the 79-bone dummy, the crash physics, the x-ray renderer and the 7 tries. time: 8h 16m cost: $27

Will Personal Intelligence for Gemini work on Apple CarPlay as well ?
401
Hands-free help on the road would save me from asking my car for directions to the wrong Starbucks again lol

Rollout map update plz, And Personalized Widgets as well...

hands-free is one thing, but the real magic is if it actually reads the room. does it know when to shut up and know when to nudge you?
30
Cars are shared devices in a way phones aren't. If my partner borrows the car, does Gemini still read out my Calendar and Gmail? Per-driver profiles, or a voice check before anything personal gets spoken aloud, would matter more here than on a phone.

Gemini on Android Auto knowing your apps with permission turns the commute into the most supervised standup of the day.
