Jason Eck was an assistant coach for 23 years and worked for 12 different head coaches.
Eck and his wife, Kimberly, always believed he would be successful as a head coach.
Now as the leading man for New Mexico, he’s got @UNMLoboFB ranked for the first time in program history.

Jason Eck on UNM finally landing in the AP Top 25: "I'm happy for our fans. I think this is a great thing for our fans, and hopefully it gets them excited about it, you know, gets them thinking about football more. Thinking about, I gotta keep my calendar clear for Saturdays in the fall or Fridays in the fall. Or I gotta keep December open for bowl games and playoffs and things like that.
"That part of it is great. But for our team, we can't dwell on it because, if anything, (Nevada head coach Jeff Choate) is a good big game coach. He was 4-0 against Montana when he was at Montana State. I'm sure they'd like to put a little feather in their cap of beating a ranked team. So I'm sure they're gonna be ready to go and be fired up for us.
"And being ranked this week means nothing if you lose this week and get kicked out of the ranking. So we gotta take care of our business and have great preparation to go play our best football."
