Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort and inspiration to so many - including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library. We will always ❤️ you.

This note in the final book from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library wrecked me last year when my daughter turned 5. Tearing up again reading it now.
Such sad news that Dolly Parton has died. Such an inspiring, clever, generous woman. Should have been made an honorary Dame for her Imagination library. Truly one of the absolute greats.

I just received a copy of a letter which my 89 year old father wrote and sent in to our local newspaper. It's rather heartwarming so I thought I'd share it.
"My sincere thanks to the Kind Gentleman who paid for my petrol at Sainsburys on Thursday 13th. Into my 90th year, no excuse, I only realised that I had forgotten my wallet on entering the kiosk to pay. Feeling more foolish than embarrassed I tried explaining the situation to the cashier, who gave me a "knowing" look ! A tall gentleman standing close by suddenly extended his hand to the cashier saying "I will pay for the man's petrol". Astonished by this offer I thanked the gentleman saying that I would leave my name and address to resolve the matter, to which he replied "No need to do that, I am quite able and it would be my pleasure". At this juncture the gentleman asked me where I came from, I replied saying Monifieth, but that I had spent many years in India. He beamed saying that he was a Sikh and had spent some time in that country ; we then chatted in Hindi and I advised him that I had, many years ago, a number of close Sikh friends. (The cashier was, by this time, wearing a perplexed expression). The kindly gentleman then advised me that he had recently moved into a family house nearby and that our Meeting must be something more than by "chance". I replied saying that among my old Sikh friends, one must have sensed my plight and planned your Kind assistance ! "
Inspiring story in the Guardian today.

This is apparently acceptable for a £27 afternoon tea box. Apparently the one below was just for show, the real one was going to be even better....#bloomsburyclassiccarshow
GB News is trying to gut the BBC. Their radical plan would force shows like Strictly and The Traitors to be axed or hidden behind a Netflix-style paywall. Sign the petition to say NO to a BBC subscription model: act.38degrees.org.uk/act/no-…
Absolutely loving the #BigNightofMusicals on BBC1. So much fantastic talent on display, and so uplifting. Can't wait to see @laVoixTVA in Wimbledon, I just knew she would be fabulous, and tonight's taster has already shown me I'm right.
I'm raising money on JustGiving for Marie Curie. They do amazing work for a cause that's close to my heart and every penny raised makes a huge difference. justgiving.com/page/pam-rost…
All the Tories running to Reform claiming that Britain is broken are like children saying "It wasn't me, it was some other kid". What a shower, no integrity, no morals, they should feel right at home with Nigel.
Michael McIntyre’s Big Show restores my faith in human nature each week #BigShow. I just love it.
It definitely tastes better with a party hat on 🤣

Message from Afghan woman
Please read and share:-
Life for a woman in Afghanistan is beyond belief. Many people may not know what happens outside the home — but what happens inside, behind closed doors, is even worse.
We are forced to endure abuse from both husbands and mothers-in-law. I cook, clean, and wash all day, but I’m still mistreated. My husband beats me.
Once, my mother-in-law told him that I was secretly studying on my phone — and he took my phone away. I feel completely trapped.
Sometimes I think about ending my life, but when I look at my little daughter, I stop — for her. Still, I feel powerless.
Yet whenever my husband is not home, I study in secret.
I want to share my voice with the world.
Please read my message, support me, and be the voice for Afghan women.
